**Applications Engineer**
Kelly Scientific has an immediate need for a Senior Engineer to support the development and commercialization of current and future environmental technologies.
**Roles and responsibilities**
Assist in experimental design, material/equipment selection, and hands-on experimental setup of
laboratory- and bench-scale technology performance testing.
Oversee product-development efforts regarding current mobile PFAS treatment units.
Provide hands-on guidance to Assistant and Associate level Scientist(s) in laboratory testing.
Review chemical analysis reports and provide feedback on method improvement as necessary.
Lead the creation of technical reports including work plans, progress reports, and performance
reports.
Collaborate with clients in technology development efforts.
**Qualifications**
Strong experience is preferred over academic training in this position. Individual will be expected
to integrate into existing projects quickly.
Degree in materials science, chemistry, or engineering preferred.
Prior engineering and pilot unit testing in a real-world setting required.

Working knowledge of SharePoint preferred
Excellent skills in oral and written technical communication
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines under pressure, and multi-task

**Initial Projects**
Project 1. Testing of Candidate Media for removal of heavy metals (Cadmium and chromium)
from high salinity simulated groundwater. Specific tasks include batch (isotherm) and column
testing.
Project 2. Pilot testing of Iron-Nickel-Carbon composite for treatment of PFAS-impacted water.
Specific tasks include working with subcontractor (Redox Tech) to design and build a pilot unit for
treatment of PFAS-impacted water at AFB.
Potential Future Projects
(These projects have been proposed to customers and are currently under review)
Project 3. Mobile PFAS treatment unit for volume reduction. This project builds off of a
technology developed by Army ERDC. The mobile unit combines activated carbon and ion
exchange resin to achieve significant PFAS removal and volume reduction. AFWERX Phase 1
proposal is currently under review. ($75k)
Project 4. Supercritical water oxidation for treatment of emerging contaminants. This project is a
collaboration with an industry leader in supercritical water oxidation. ERDWERX Commercial Solutions Offering proposal is currently under review ($10M).
**Growth Potential**
Individuals demonstrating excellent performance in this position will be considered for future
promotion to Product Development Manager. Responsibilities include:
o Manages the companies IP portfolio (including internal filing, licensing agreements, and
any government reporting required)
o Serve as PI on 1-2 programs, including project coordination, technical lead, customer
reporting requirements and P&L responsibilities
o Give technical presentations to audiences that elevate visibility
o Participate in strategy and implementation of growth in coordination with CEO and CIO
o Responsible for contributing technologies to the Stage Gate process
Ventures studio model supports the rapid creation of spin-off companies around
technologies and markets that have been derisks. All employees have the opportunity to
pursue active involvement in spin-off entities.

The position will begin with a 3-month probationary period, with opportunity to continue based on performance.
