Director of Risk Management

Alvarez & Marsal Valuation Services, LLC (AMVS) is a business unit of A&M providing valuation services to corporates; private equity and hedge funds; attorneys and their clients, and investors. AMVS operates in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. AMVS has developed a risk framework under which it provides services to its clients. AMVS is now seeking to hire its first Director of Risk Management to report to the Chief Operating Officer and assist the Executive Committee of AMVS maintain the culture of appropriate risk management within an entrepreneurial consulting environment.
The person best suited to this role will have a background in providing valuation or similar services to clients for at least five years together with experience conducting QA/QC program reviews, ideally within a medium or large accounting firm or independent valuation firm. The role is based in the United States with some anticipated travel to Europe and the Middle East periodically.
The role of the Director of risk Management includes but is not limited to:
Reviewing the AMVS risk framework and risk management protocols and keeping them up to date as the profile of the business and the risk environment changes;
Managing the program to ensure practice professionals comply with risk management protocols under our client acceptance, QA/QC and annual review policies;
Regularly reporting the findings of risk management reviews to the Executive Committee;
Reviewing the risk management attributes of new services and tools developed by AMVS, and coordinating risk factors with the Offices of Global Security and Global Compliance, and
In coordination with our IT group, reviewing and managing the document retention, file retention and IT architecture of the business unit.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, in a business-related major (accounting/finance preferred)
10-15+ years of work experience in valuation consulting together with a background in conducting QA/QC program reviews ideally within a medium or large accounting firm or independent valuation firm.
Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Self-starter; desire to succeed in an entrepreneurial culture
Some anticipated travel to Europe and the Middle East periodically
