Distinguished Engineer- Model Dev Software Engineer (Remote- Eligible)
We are looking for a very strong distinguished software engineer to work with a group of high performing teams within the Center for Machine Learnings model development tower building Capital Ones Enterprise Model Platform. The Enterprise Model Platform is a core strategic initiative that is driving the future of machine learning across the organization. This role will be a hands-on engineering role where you will provide senior level development guidance to an organization of approximately sixty engineers focusing on Python and golang based microservices running in a large-scale Kubernetes multi-cluster topology built on AWS infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
You will be asked to provide input on code quality and style. You will have significant influence on setting coding and SDK development standards.
You will contribute to and drive our microservices architecture for our API layer and back-end systems integration as well as participate in implementation work that is already underway.
You will help the team to learn from your experience around building for performance, debugging and troubleshooting, and hopefully avoiding issues before they occur.
You will mentor junior and senior engineers, use your experience to grow our existing talent, and attract new talent to our organization.
This role is not an architect role but rather a hands-on senior level engineering leader. We expect that you will be in the code with engineers, doing PR reviews, recommending changes, and, at times, shipping code yourself.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree
At least 7 years experience in software development or software engineering.
At Least 5 years full stack software development using Python or golang
At least 5 years of experience working with Linux based operating systems
At least 3 years of experience in DevOps practices
At least 3 years of experience with AWS, Azure or GCP
At least 3 years experience working with microservices based architectures
At least 1 year of container based development experience in a Kubernetes based environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree
10+ years of software engineering experience
5+ years of experience designing and developing microservices based architectures in a high-load and rapidly changing environment
3+ years of experience with Continuous Integration tool sets
4+ years of AWS experience
3+ year of container based development experience in a Kubernetes based environment
3+ years experience with relational database systems
3+ years experience with performance profiling tools for Python or golang based applications
Experience working with data analytics or machine learning systems
Experience with logging and observability tools
Experience with Artifactory and GitHub
Experience with network and application protocols (TCP, HTTP)
Certified in AWS technologies
