The candidate will lead the Rapid Stress Testing and Special Projects (RSTSP) team (~15 team members) within the Enterprise Risk Analytics team. The Enterprise Risk Analytics team is part of Enterprise Risk Management.
The RSTSP lead will play a key role in identifying key risks for Rapid Stress Testing, coordinating the execution of said Rapid Stress Tests (RST) and communicating the results to internal and external stakeholders, as well as providing analysis on ad-hoc research topics (special projects) as requested by senior management.
**Background**
Citis Enterprise Stress Testing Policy (Policy) requires stress tests to be performed for both (1) to perform capital planning as well as harmonize risk appetite limits across the organization these are done with a fixed cadence (e.g., CCAR, performed quarterly or Global Systemic Stress Tests, performed monthly) and (2) to quantify impact from anticipated and/or currently unfolding risk events on Citis performance metrics these are the Rapid Stress Tests done on an ad-hoc basis as needed.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Provide thought leadership for rapid stress testing: The RSTSP lead will help define the target states of rapid stress testing for the firm and be responsible for the process end-to-end, including topic identification, execution, analysis of results and communication.
+ Ensure timely and appropriate topic selection: A key component of this effort is the timely identification of key stresses as suitable candidates for stress testing. The candidate must ensure that appropriate research is conducted involving both internal and external sources and recommend a thoughtfully curated list of potential topics to senior management. A robust process for this purpose must be defined and set up.
+ Coordinate execution of stress tests: Once a specific topic has been selected for execution, the candidate must coordinate the actual execution of the stress test across all risk stripes (e.g., market, credit, liquidity, operational) and businesses (e.g., trading, consumer etc.). Scenario definition and scope must also be clearly defined. Once test results are available, the candidate must undertake review and challenge of such results, and coordinate with 1st and 2nd line stakeholders to collate appropriate mitigation actions.
+ Present results: Finally, the candidate must extract key takeaways from the exercise and create a presentation to be shared with senior internal (e.g., Board, senior risk management committees) and external (e.g., regulators) stakeholders.
+ Special projects for senior management: On an ad-hoc basis, senior management may pose specific questions to the team, that must be researched and answered within a short time frame. The candidate must co-ordinate the process and ensure quality of the response. For example, senior management may ask what the consolidation risk is for off-balance sheet entities reported on Citis financial disclosures. This would require identifying the relevant internal stakeholders, framing the right questions that address the issue, and then presenting key findings in a clear and concise manner.
**Qualifications**
+ Education: Graduate degree in Finance, Business Administration, Operations Research or another quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics, etc.), or an undergraduate degree with additional years of relevant experience is required.
+ Experience:
+ 15+ years of experience in risk management, Finance function, relevant front-office/business or management consulting role; must include experience across risk types.
+ Experience with design, execution and/or review of stress testing or similar processes in systemically important financial institutions is strongly preferred.
+ Track record of managing cross functional initiatives.
+ Skills
+ Understand stress testing related banking regulation and supervisory expectations for large complex financial institutions.
+ Strong collaboration and influencing skills - able to identify and influence key decision makers across various levels and functions within the organization; defuse conflict and work toward agreement.
+ Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage at senior management levels.
+ Excellent quantitative skills, programming knowledge a plus.
+ Ability to undertake complex projects that may need steep learning curves to execute.
+ Self-motivated and detail oriented with an ability to take reasoned decisions under pressure.
+ Ability to lead and manage a globally dispersed team.
