HII Unmanned Systems (HII UxS) is seeking a Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to support our rapidly expanding MBSE modeling of autonomous systems. As HII Unmanned Systems continues to push the boundaries of multi-domain autonomy, one of our primary focuses is the modeling of our autonomous vehicles, launch and recovery systems, and support equipment in MBSE to meet the requirements of their missions. The candidate will be part of the Modeling and Simulation organization, and work with MBSE colleagues on new autonomous platform models, refining the models through development, integration, testing, manufacturing, fielding, and sustainment. Efforts will include development of software architecture models in UML and system models in SysML across multiple programs.

This role will perform model development to support both new software architecture designs and the re-architecting of existing software code bases. Code development is not required for this position, but an understanding of the software structures and architecture related to these languages is desired. Software architecture designs will also utilize both Data Distribution Service (DDS) and Unmanned Maritime Autonomy Architecture (UMAA) structures and services. While it is desirable that the candidate have at least a basic understanding of these concepts, it is not required.

What you will be doing...

+ Help drive the systems architecture and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach for autonomous marine systems (undersea and surface). This person will work closely with the engineering team to transfer product definitions into models that result in successfully released products.

+ Work with customers (internal and external) to define and develop product models

+ Create UML and SysML models (both structure and behavior) to support the technical design and development of products based on guidance from software and systems engineers.

+ Create requirements relationship matrices to model elements.

+ Perform technical analyses, via models, through a product lifecycle to support concept development, design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation, and maintenance.

+ Execute the model to support test programs for validation and verification of system design and performance.

+ Perform system engineering tasking to include requirements allocation, interface definition, product requirement management, in the context of technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

+ Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a documented process for MBSE to achieve HII UxS business goals.

+ Prepare and present overviews and demonstrations describing model technical content and development status to internal and external stakeholders.

+ Attend integrated project team meetings.

What we are looking for...

+ 5+ years relevant modeling experience (UML & SysML) with Bachelors in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field; 3+ years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience. #LI-MH1 *TE *EP

+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance #LI-MH1 *EP *TE

Bonus points for...

+ Work experience in MBSE modeling tools that support UML and SysML

+ Magic Draw tool experience preferred

+ Rhapsody and Enterprise Architect tool experience

+ System decomposition via OMG frameworks (UML, DoDAF 2.0/UPDM, SysML, UAF)

+ Experience in extending UML-based models to other tools or modeling environments via existing frameworks/APIs

+ Understanding of DDS structure and services

+ Understanding of UMAA structure and concepts

+ Understanding of SoaML (Service Oriented Architecture Modeling Language) Understanding of structures relating to C++/Python in Linux docker containers

+ Experience using configuration management/version control tools

+ Experience in development of marine or defense platforms

+ Experience modeling complex systems for Department of Defense or other government organizations
