The MSI Shift team is comprised of 4 shifts that work around the clock, 7 days per week, performing analysis into factory operations in order to optimize factory output or identify root causes of problems with factory movement. This analysis requires deep understanding of the chip manufacturing process, expertise in SAS systems

Each shift is led by a TR who oversees 2 engineers and 2 technicians. Ensuring fast and high quality onboarding education is also a requirement of this role. Due to the crossover between MSI Shift and other teams such as the PI team, the CAPA Team and the MSS (Scheduling software) team, engineers should be prepared along their development journeys to transition into one of these or a similar role. For this reason, the frequency of hiring is higher than other similar SAS management positions.

This role is accountable to stakeholders from around the company. The MSI team works primarily with the Manufacturing department in an effort to optimize factory output and solve problems through technical analysis and systems expertise. The team also helps with testing of new software functions that impact factory operations and consults with Fab Engineering teams about how to configure various SAS systems to function optimally. This role, therefore, requires a broad conception of job scope, a high level of accountability and the ability to periodically recreate the teams strategy and mission based on a new vision adapted to current factory conditions and priorities.
