The Department of Radiology has an outstanding opportunity for a Full-Time, Non-Permanent Research Study Assistant for a limited time to support the research project entitled Dual-energy CT as a quantitative biomarker for assessing immune checkpoint inhibitor response.

This Research Study Assistant would be an active participant in the research study including collection patient and imaging data from the electronical medical record and DICOM header information from PACS, as well as image processing such as drawing regions of interest for iodine quantification of tumors.  The role also includes maintaining and update research database and imaging repository.  The role also includes literature review for relevant literature. The role may also include statistical support for data analysis with the relevant background but not necessary.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.)

Responsibilities & duties include:

Patient/imaging data collection:  50%
Image analysis:  30%
Statistical support:  5%
Literature review:  5%
Database/imaging repository management: 10%
Self/Team Development:

        o The Research Study Assistant will be trained on imaging review and how to identify tumors to be able to draw regions of interest for tumor evaluation.  The research assistant will also be exposed to radiology technology and imaging acquisition parameters. There will be opportunity to collaborate on writing abstracts and papers related to the research.  The research assistant will participate in group research meetings.

Minimum Requirements: 

Two years of college-level course work in a relevant academic area AND one year of appropriate experience OR equivalent education/experience.

Desired Qualifications

Prior experience in the medical profession.
Familiarity with Excel, Word.  Any familiarity with statistical analysis such as SPSS, R etc. helpful but not necessary

Work Environment:

Schedule is normally 8a to 5p, M-F but i not always fixed and workload does vary. The incumbents first responsibility is to complete tasks rather than keep to a fixed schedule.  Flexibility in schedule and intensity of work is necessary.
Some travel between sites may be necessary by UW Health Services or other shuttles.
This position is eligible for a hybrid setting.
