Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist / Health Physicist in Fair Lawn, NJ, East Windsor, NJ, White Plains, NY, or Newtown, PA, to support projects in the New Jersey area. This is a senior-level opportunity for a dynamic individual looking for career growth in consulting. You will serve as a lead technical resource and/or project manager. The position requires strong working knowledge and educational background in cleanup of sites impacted by radionuclides, statistics, the Multi-Agency Radiation Site Survey and Investigation Manual (MARSSIM), Final Status Surveys (FSS), Conceptual Site Model (CSM) development, radiological and chemical data evaluation, field investigations, as well as sound written, organizational, and communication skills.

Role accountabilities:

  • Develop FSS reports, CSMs, Quality Assurance Project Plans, and other relevant technical reports

  • Develop/Update Master FSS Plans

  • Review FSS Plan Addenda and Remedial Action Reports

  • Develop field sampling plans in accordance with MARSSIM for radiologically-contaminated sites, accounting for naturally occurring radioactive material and other field considerations specific to radiological sites.

  • Manage field sampling efforts and QC field data

  • Evaluate field data, including aerial flyover radiological data, and assist with developing remedial designs based on the data

  • Develop/review risk/dose assessments

  • Manage the completion of various technical tasks

  • Train and oversee/guide field staff

  • Develop presentations and participate in technical meetings with clients and regulatory agencies

  • Review relevant regulations and standards

  • Travel is required (approximately 10%).

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in chemistry, physics, engineering, environmental science, health physics or equivalent radiation-related field

  • 15 years' experience - 3 years' experience related to radioactive contamination cleanup work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with conducting MARSSIM surveys including developing FSS Addendums/Plans, developing FSS Reports, calculating elevated measurement comparisons (EMCs) and Wilcoxon Rank Sums

  • Familiarity with evaluating radiological data (gamma scans, analytical, etc.).

  • Understanding of RESRAD and PRG calculator.
