General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the worlds leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.
Whether a specific satellite for a specific mission or a constellation of interconnected spacecraft, the GA-EMS Space Systems team is re-defining how customers can access the possibilities of space. GA-EMS offers modular and scalable satellite platforms backed with a history of operational flight experience to support defense, civil, commercial, and academic mission requirements.
We have an exciting opportunity in our Aerospace Systems Engineering Directorate. This full-time position for a Senior Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) engineer is located at our Huntsville, AL site and provides technical expertise for satellite, missile, and projectile GNC algorithm design and subsystem development, simulation modeling, and detailed analyses for a variety of space and weapon system development projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops GNC algorithms and implements them in six degree-of-freedom flight simulations.
Develops novel algorithms and simulation models for assured Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies.
Supports development of new small satellites, guided missiles, gun-launched projectiles, and hypersonic vehicles.
Analyzes simulation, ground test, and flight test data in support of simulation model validation and GNC algorithm improvements.
Leads teams of GNC engineers on complex development efforts.
Supports simulation development and documentation using GA-EMS guidelines and best industry practices.
Develop and present briefing materials for design reviews.
Support peer reviews of GNC algorithms, simulation models, analysis tools, and other software modules as required.
Facilitate rapid resolution of delays that impact simulation and analysis tasks including real-time, thorough communication with task leads, program management and other leadership is required.
Collaborate daily with GA and customer engineering and program management teams.
Support development of GNC related data deliverables.
