SoC CAD Methodology Engineer
THE ROLE
The full chip floorplanning team provides a highly automated environment for SoC floorplanning across the portfolio of AMD designs. The flow provides tile and pin placement optimization, clock and power distribution, high-performance bus implementation, and timing budgeting. We evaluate, procure, and deploy technologies from industry leading EDA vendors inside a flow framework. This role will be a part of a global team all working in concert for project design teams from the North America, China, and India. You will work directly with the global CAD organization and project teams to understand the design requirements and deliver innovative solutions using EDA tools, XML, TcL, Python, csh, and perl scripts as appropriate.

THE PERSON
As a member of the CAD Implementation Team, you will be delivering world-class, cutting-edge methodology to AMDs product development teams through the application of industry-leading tools/flows, and processes. You are a forward-thinking engineer who continuously works to optimize/improve the workflow, anticipates technical issues, has deep analytical skills, and enjoys a competitive pace. In addition, you have strong written and verbal skills, strong problem-solving skills, and have an exceptional attention to detail.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with CAD implementation members to deliver high quality tools and flows that meet all the key metrics of QoR: Timing, Area, and Performance.
Regress methodology and develop capabilities to improve quality.
Develop the strategy and key initiatives to ensure the CAD flows meet the future design needs and the most advances technologies.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Understanding of processor development, digital electronics, ASIC design flow, and RTL design.
Knowledge of front-end design tools such as FusionCompiler, Formality, Genus, Conformal, ConformalECO.
Familiar with Verilog and other scripting languages (e.g. Tcl, Perl, Python and Flowtool).
Familiar with RTL coding techniques for competitive PPA-measured QoR.
Knowledge of scripting Linux/Unix environment, Python, and TCL.
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
Self-motivated, and committed to achievement.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
BS/MS in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related.
