**Job background/context:**

The Head of Data Platform and Data Delivery is a critical role that will lead the TTS Data Lake platform as well as drive data delivery from the Lake. The leader and his/her team will have end to end responsibility for the core infrastructure of the Cloudera Hadoop Big Data platform. They will be responsible for building a Cloud based target end state of the TTS Data Lake and drive the implementation and migration from on-premise Cloudera Hadoop cluster to the target end state. They will be responsible to ensure that high quality, near real-time data is ingested into the Data Lake from source systems and is available for access to drive consumption for Data Solutions, Data Science, Machine Learning, Business Applications and Regulatory Reporting.


The leader will actively manage the on-premise multi-petabyte Big Data Cloudera Hadoop cluster by ensuring robust engineering practices, capacity management, multi-tenancy operations, data encryption, RBAC access controls and proper maintenance of the infrastructure to support rapid growth of data assets at TTS. They will be responsible for all tooling, frameworks and edge node applications to ensure meeting all business data needs with optimized technical performance.


The leader will have strong hands-on skills in Public Cloud and Platform-as-a-service solutions with deep background in cloud native and cloud compatible technologies in the data space. They will map out the target end state of the TTS Data Lake on the Public Cloud and build a roadmap for implementation. They will comprehensively plan the migration of the multi-petabyte data asset from the on-premises cluster to the Public Cloud.


The leader will also be responsible for data delivery from the Big Data cluster. This would require the management of near real-time ingestion from source systems via Kafka into the Data Lake. The leader will partner with source systems to ensure that data is sourced with the right data governance and metadata management leveraging a Producer-Consumer model of pushing canonical data from the source systems to the Data Lake. The sourced Data must be maintained in real-time repositories such as HBASE, DynamoDB or Snowflake. The leader must be highly proficient in Spark based processing of data to deliver cutting edge data solutions for consumption by the business.


The leader will work closely with other data teams in the organization, both in Technology and in the Product organization to ensure that the Data Lake meets all business and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate must be highly proficient in Agile methodology as well as cutting-edge Dev Ops processes. He or she must demonstrate thought leadership in the Big Data domain and have excellent communication skills fostering collaboration across the organization.

**Key Responsibilities:**


+ Responsible for managing the on-premise TTS Data Lake which is a Cloudera Hadoop Big Data platform including capacity management, tooling, multi-tenancy, RBAC access controls, data encryption, data virtualization, COB and ongoing support

+ Responsible for all near real-time Data Ingestion into the Data Lake using a Producer-Consumer model for canonical data leveraging Kafka

+ Responsible for adopting and implementing cutting edge data ingestion frameworks in Big Data

+ Responsible for ensuring that all ingested data is properly registered in the Metadata Catalog with the right business taxonomy and right data governance for ensuring data consumption

+ Ensuring that all ingested data assets have the right access controls for consumption

+ Build out the Public Cloud strategy for the TTS Data Lake on AWS

+ Develop a Hybrid strategy of transition where both the on-premise Data Lake and the AWS based Data Lake are used for downstream applications

+ Develop a migration strategy for the Data Lake to AWS taking into consideration ongoing data applications, data science work as well as phased approvals for data privacy of different data sets

+ Ensure that all data management and data operations work in the Data Lake is performed as per SLAs with the right quality

+ Demonstrate strong leadership qualities to lead a large group of technologists focusing on execution.

+ Be highly collaborative to work within Citi and with vendor teams


**Qualifications**


+ BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent

+ 15+ years of experience in leading and delivering data solutions.

+ Have a strong technology background that spans all aspects of Big Data. Be an expert in the standard Hadoop ecosystem including HDFS, Hive, Impala, Squoop, Flume, HBASE, Spark, Avro, Parquet, YARN

+ Deep background in Cloud Native and Cloud Compatible technologies. Cloud Architecture Certification (AWS, GCP, or Azure) preferred or strong architecture experience on Cloud such as AWS Lambda, EKS, EC2, Snowflake, Glue, Databricks, Sagemaker, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, Pivotal Cloud Foundry

+ Strong grasp of SaaS/PaaS/IaaS, Microservices, Containerization, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, API Development, REST API, ECS/OpenShift, Spring framework, Spring boot

+ Good knowledge of CICD, DevOps, DevSecOps, Jenkins, Lightspeed, GitHub, Maven, Selenium, Cucumber, SonarQube, Artifactory, Chef, Ansible

+ Hands on experience working with Data Management including Data Ingestion, ETL, Data Modeling, Data Conformance, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Master Data Management, Business Intelligence and Analytics

+ Strong Experience in Agile development methodology and processes

+ Excellent communication skills. Clearly articulating and documenting technical and functional specifications is a key requirement

+ Promotes teamwork and builds strong relationships within and across global teams

+ Promotes continuous process improvement especially in code quality, testability & reliability

+ Experience in the financial services desirable
