Responsibilities As a R&D Engineer, you will collaborate with cross functional teams comprising technical experts within the R&D function, as well as business unit leaders to design, execute, and launch new innovative products. At this role of Associate Engineer, you are responsible for critical aspects of developing, optimizing, validating, and scaling-up new water processing technologies and beverage manufacturing processes. You will have the opportunity to lead workstreams with critical thinking and problem-solving skills: apply first principles, form hypothesis, determine theoretical calculation design and execute experiments as needed to solve technical problems and deliver innovative solutions. Key Roles & Responsibilities Design and develop process test protocols, lead the execution of bench scale, pilot scale and plant trials, performing hands-on experimentation, and analyze/communicate test results for potential new product launches. Leverage strong leadership and problem-solving skills during pilot and plant trials to troubleshoot processing issues and make quick informed decisions within the dynamic manufacturing environment. Collect, analyze and interpret experimental and trial data, form conclusions and determine feasibility. Effectively communicate results and observations to project lead and other team members, make special note of unexpected results or observations with strong recommendations. Support project leads in innovating, planning, and executing major projects. Collaboration with third-party equipment vendors and suppliers to design, optimize, and/or validate beverage and water processing technologies. Exposure to cross-functional teams within and beyond R&D, including marketing, sensory, analytical, operations, and strategy, from domestic and international markets. Opportunities to expand technical knowledge and education beyond your current expertise through internal PepsiCo R&D education programs, as well as external collaborations with universities. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical/Environmental/Food Process/Material and other related field with focus on chemistry and physics) 1-2 years industrial experience preferred, ideally in food & beverage or other consumer goods industry. Background and knowledge in water chemistry and water treatment a plus Willing to travel Proficiency in MS office a must; Advanced software skills a plus (database management, data analytics, modelling & simulation tool) Ability and interest to work in laboratory, pilot plant and manufacturing scale environments Experience in a consumer products research & development function a plus Ability to demonstrate strong fundamental engineering skills. Working knowledge of chemical analytical methods a plus Demonstrated Ability to apply problem-solving skills in Research and Development Environment Organization, coordination, and presentation skills Strong communication skills (oral and written) Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute with speed Initiative and follow through: Independent decision maker in a fast paced and demanding environment Covid-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment dependent on role and location.
