Position Summary

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will translate business needs into building reliable and scalable technical systems, developing the software and systems needed for end-to-end execution of large-scale AI projects, closely collaborating with business partners, architects and data scientists to develop large scale digital applications that solve business problems. This role is responsible for developing, testing, and deploying AI/ML systems. They drive the acceleration of research projects -- from computer vision to NLP -- into production-quality, robust systems. They run rapid-prototyping sprints, pushing the boundaries of what is feasible and play a critical role in delivering AI solutions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implement algorithms, knowledge bases, complex logic, and other AI technologies into new and existing systems.

  • Act as a software engineer to design and run experiments, including designing and evaluating new algorithms as well as implementing known algorithms.

  • Understand software system specifications and recommend improvements, including understanding the implications of system-level decisions and how to mitigate and leverage them. Research, develop and maintain deep learning, machine learning and statistical processes against business requirements and processes surrounding modeling and cognitive computing. Design, document, implement, debug, and test software. Participate in integrated test sessions with industry partners.

  • Develop novel, complex scheduling algorithms for autonomous systems that must interpret large amounts of input state, constraint, and event data to generate actions and scheduled to achieve higher level goals. Design software architecture and document data dictionary, data understanding, software architecture, and building the companys knowledge base of data and AI software.

  • Play a key role in bringing ML/AI to production working with your own models and those produced by team members. Work closely with other engineering teams to help them build product features. Help manage cognitive computing development and production infrastructure. Partner with lines of business to translate business analytic problems into technical solutions and actionable recommendations across the organization. Help drive best practices when it comes to AI/ML development as well as code standards

  • Keep abreast of latest cognitive computing research and trends aligned with business needs. Enable humans and machines to work effectively as a team by providing shared situation awareness and explainable autonomous behaviors that build trust between human and machine. Support a learning culture by sharing your state-of-the-art knowledge through internal and external presentations. Participate in cutting edge research in machine intelligence and machine learning applications.

Qualifications

  • Masters in Computer Engineering or Computer Science, Machine Learning, mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Statistics, Information Systems or another quantitative field and/or equivalent practical experience specializing in Artificial Intelligence and machine learning or deep learning.

  • 5+ years of experience and a proven track record in artificial intelligence engineering, machine learning or deep learning, and software engineering including developing software in machine learning including low-level system development and development on various platforms.

  • Familiarity with technologies like Apache Spark, Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn, Tensorflow and Pandas.

  • Operating knowledge of development in cloud-based environments (Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure).

  • Strong understanding and experience in distributed computing frameworks, particularly Apache Hadoop and Hadoop ecosystem components -- Hive, Spark, HBase, Storm, Kafka etc.

  • Ability to build micro-services in Java/Scala/Python that are deployed via Docker/Kubernetes.

  • Fluency in programming skills such as Python, R, or other equivalent languages.

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

  • Ability to design, document, implement, debug, and test software. Participate in integrated test sessions with industry partners and customers/sponsors. Experience in designing and debugging complex machine learning systems.

  • Experience with public and private repositories and track record with open source packages. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage assignments on multiple projects, successfully leading others through projects in a fast-changing technical environment. Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment to achieve desired results. Ability to work in a diverse team of AI engineers, AI experts and Machine Learning operations engineers delivering end-to-end MLaaS solutions to our stake holders

  • Working experience of web-services and micro-service-based architectures (including API design)
