Our Financial Services Tax group seeks an accomplished tax professional with strong technical skills, significant tax provision, tax compliance and advisory experience to the financial services market, who excels at client deliverables, exhibits strong leadership capabilities, and has a passion for our profession, to join our Financial Services Tax team as a Senior Tax Manager. In this position you will assist clients in solving their complex business issues from strategy to execution. You will assist with their tax structuring and navigating the constantly changing and increasingly complex tax laws and requirements that impact their overall tax strategies.

The preferred location for the position is the New York office. However, the position can take place in any of our Mazars U.S. office locations. Our firm also offers remote working.

What Is Involved:

Essential Duties:

  • Provide tax compliance, provision and advisory services to partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations for a variety of clients in the banking, investments, asset management and capital markets industries

  • Plan, budget and lead the overall execution of assigned client engagements

  • Supervise and review the work of other tax staff on large and complex tax engagements, including the calculations of estimated payments, extensions, tax returns and provisions

  • Keep firm partners and client management informed on the progress of the engagement as well as any significant issues discovered that need resolution

  • Research tax issues that may impact clients' federal, state, and local tax planning projects and business transactions, and provide appropriate solutions

  • A dvise clients on tax structuring affairs (both domestic and global) while acting as a strategic consultant related to business analysis, managing working capital, and profit sharing for partners

  • Conduct online tax research using tools such CCH Intelliconnect and tax preparation using CCH Axcess and other applicable tax software programs

  • Communicate on behalf of clients with the IRS and other state and local tax authorities, and represent clients at any potential tax audits

  • Participate in client proposals and other new business development activities

What We Seek:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or a Business-related field

  • Advanced tax degrees (MST; J.D.; LLM) are preferred

  • CPA is required

  • 9+ years of relevant tax compliance and advisory experience from a CPA firm, a professional services firm or a tax consulting practice

  • Intimate knowledge of the tax issues affecting either the domestic and/or international banking industries

  • Intimate knowledge of public accounting practices, internal domestic banking tax departments or internal foreign banking departments

  • Comprehensive technical skills in FAS 109, FIN 48, tax provision preparation audit and review, and corporate and partnership tax compliance

  • Work experience with CCH Axcess tax software and other related tax technologies including RIA Checkpoint and BNA

  • Excellent tax research skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Oral and written)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Suite tools (Word & Excel)

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Ability to travel to client locations as needed

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
