Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Architecture Senior Manager to be based in our New York Metro office.

The Architecture Senior Manager will be responsible for the following items:

  • The role is to lead, for an architecture practice, major mixed-use Transportation Oriented Development projects in the New York Area.

  • Supports, oversees and coordinates architecture activities for an operating unit.

  • Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative.

  • Initiates and maintains contact with senior-level management within the company and is skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues. At this level, the individual will have demonstrated understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, working with a multi-disciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence.

  • Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

  • The role is project management lead for the entire design team, with a focus on overall high-quality delivery, meeting project schedules, etc.

  • Performs various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.

  • Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments

  • Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of architecture

  • Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches

  • Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization

  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field

  • Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience

  • Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits

  • Manages a group of architects and/or designers, coordinating activities of the unit

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS plus ten (10) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Licensed architect in New York or New Jersey

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fifteen (15) years of experience leading major, billion dollar mixed-use transportation-oriented development projects, from beginning to the completion of construction.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills to manage large teams and projects

  • Software experience: MS Excel, MS Word, Revit, Autocad
