The Media Delivery team at Disney Streaming is responsible for the entire audio and video encoding supply chain from content acquisition to delivery, consisting of an agile and responsive teams of technicians that perform the daily processes and procedures of our live and on-demand video streaming products. The departments responsibilities provide round-the-clock support for these products, ensuring proper functionality across all platforms and front-end playback scenarios. The Media Delivery Live team provides technical and engineering support for our partner products, including workflow design and implementation, incident management and system health monitoring for live and VOD streaming media orchestration, and cross-team communications.


This is an entry level position on the Media Delivery Live team, a small team of engineers responsible for implementing, maintaining, and supporting live streaming workflows for Disney Streamings video encoding/segmenting products. It is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in the live streaming space working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and sophisticated technical environment. You will be responsible for monitoring the encoders and segmenters that are the backbone of our video workflow. When issues arise, you will be one of the first people troubleshooting it and providing solutions that ensure minimal impact to our customers video experience. You will also assist in the deployment and maintenance of our live encoders. While there will be plenty of on-the-job training, the ideal candidate would have some background in IT system administration, audio/video production technologies and/or media streaming knowledge.


**Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:**


+ Strong multi-tasking abilities

+ Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues in a dynamic production environment

+ Ability to work in both Mac and Windows environments

+ Linux systems administration experience strongly preferred

+ Ability to work in an independent manner.

+ Strong communication skills

+ Comfortable working with DSS staff around the in the United States (Eastern and Pacific Time Zones)

+ Some Linux BASH scripting experience

+ Knowledge of at least one programming/scripting language

+ Knowledge of video codecs and compression, specifically H.264/AVC and H.265/HEVC

+ Basic understanding of video fundamentals

+ Comfortable acting as a technical resource to other departments to address and resolve problems.

+ Experience working with encoding platforms

+ Basic understanding of IP networks

+ Knowledge of video delivery over content distribution networks

+ Some experience with open-source encoding software such as FFMPEG or GStreamer

+ Comfortable reading xml/json
