Samsung operates the worlds #1 Smart TV platform with 200M Samsung Smart TVs sold across 197 countries. The Tizen Smart TV OS is now being made available to third-party TV manufacturers who are seeking a best-in-class TV UX that offers access to all of the worlds leading video, music, and gaming services, including Samsungs TV Plus and Gaming Hub.

The Strategic Partnerships team is seeking a Business Development Director to lead Samsungs Tizen Licensing Program and scale the platform through licensing partnerships with tier 1 OEM and ODM partners. The Tizen Licensing Lead will be responsible for evaluating and informing the programs strategy, structuring and negotiating agreements with OEM, ODM, and retail partners, and operationalizing and scaling the Tizen Licensing Program globally. The candidate should have directly-related experience in licensing and scaling platforms, expertise in the Smart TV/OTT space, and comfort working across time zones and cultures.

Role and Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Tizen Licensing Program strategy, translate that strategy into an actionable plan, and partner with Samsung global teams (e.g. Product, Engineering, Marketing, BD, Sales) to execute all components of that strategy to ensure its success.

  • Secure licensing partnerships with major OEM, ODM, and retail partners that enable the Tizen program to scale meaningfully and enter new markets.

  • Structure and lead negotiations for licensing terms, collaborating with teams to align on terms across economics, data, privacy, technical requirements, IP, UX/UI, etc., and work closely with legal to draft and execute agreements.

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Sales teams on go-to-market strategy for the Program and Program partner launches.

  • Evaluate the health of the Program and its partnerships and evolve the strategy accordingly; establish processes and policies necessary to scale the program efficiently.

  • Proactively identify and creatively solve issues that would impede the success of the Program.


Skills and Qualifications


Qualifications & Skills

  • 12-15 years of experience primarily in a Business Development role

  • Experience working in consumer electronics, preferably within the Smart TV category

  • Experience leading multi-layered and challenging, senior-level negotiations

  • Experience drafting legal documents and collaborating closely with Legal on redlines

  • Demonstrated ability to execute on high-impact, multi-faceted initiatives, and to set new directions for the business

  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and creatively problem solve for several complex and time-sensitive matters; Ability to adjust priorities/tactics/solutions based on a constantly evolving environment

  • Ability to evaluate a large number of inputs and distill them into a clear recommendation and practical action plan to be represented to leadership

  • Possesses high emotional IQ with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, and identify and influence key decision-makers in an organization

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal oversight in an ambiguous environment
