**Description**
**THE ROLE**
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will be located in SoCal, Seattle, or Portland and is in charge of Providence Health Plans (PHP) information technology and computer systems. The CIO reports to the Chief Executive Officer and their duties include assessing current processes, recommending software upgrades, and directing the executive team on the best processes. The successful CIO is a resourceful individual with strong technology skills, experience, emotional intelligence, coaching and communications skills.
The incumbent performs all duties in a manner that promotes the PHP mission, values, and philosophy. In all aspects, he/she serves as a role model for the values and mission of the organization.
**Essential Functions**
+ Oversee key leaders within Information Services to ensure IT systems are adequate and evolving to modern standards in support of ongoing service and strategic goals. Including implementing and maintaining a new instance of the Facets core system in a manner that allows the plan to grow and scale;
+ Analyze the technology used in the design, development and administration of the company for accuracy and efficiency.
+ Collaborate with the CEO and project managers to assess resource use and allocation.
+ Monitor changes in the technology sector to discover ways the company can improve and develop.
+ Supervise the networks and computer systems in the company to ensure optimal performance.
+ Plan and direct the implementation of new IT systems.
+ Provide leadership to IT specialists and other staff within the company.
+ Create and adapt technological platforms to improve the client experience.
+ Managing IT staff and develop department goals;
+ Develop and oversee the IT budget;
+ Plan, deploy and maintain IT systems and operations;
+ Manage the PHPs software development needs;
+ Develop IT policies, procedures and best practices;
+ Stay updated on IT trends and emerging technologies;
+ Develop and enforce IT best practices across the organization;
+ Ensure IT strategies and processes support company-wide goals;
+ Oversee relationships with vendors, contractors and service providers; and
+ Present and explain to the board of directors and other executives the benefits and risks of new IT-related projects.
**Minimum Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelors degree preferred in relevant field; Masters degree preferred relevant field. Combination of relevant education and professional experience will be considered as overall.
+ A minimum of 7 years of experience in a senior or executive level position within a healthcare or related business.
+ A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience performing described job functions, within information technology leadership.
+ Knowledge and experience of best practices in organizational development and planning within a health system or multifaceted organization of the size and scale of PHP.
+ Project management and facilitation experience.
