**Civil Designer**


Kelly Engineering Resources is searching for a **Civil Designer** for an outstanding **contract to hire** **opportunity** with a growing Civil Engineering firm located in downtown Chicago. In this role, you will create base maps for utility projects.You will train onsite for the first 1-3 months and then move towards a hybrid (2 days onsite, 3 days remote work environment). Hybrid work environment is subject to change due to individual or overall staff performance.


Under direction of project managers & with minimal supervision, as a **Civil Designer,** you will create **underground and aerial maps & drawings** from a variety of sources: Civil Engineers, customer records, Sr. Designers, utility maps, google maps, survey reports, project details, permit requirements, customer specifications and internal design standards. Drawings should be exact renderings of verifiable site details.


**Your daily responsibilities will be to:**


+ Apply AutoCAD drafting skills to create drawings to scale showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities and exact specifications and dimensions.

+ Create design drawings by using aerial image overlays, field measurements, or by interpreting survey data, establishing the public right-of-way, applying location of existing above and underground utilities from atlases/record drawings received from clients and other municipality processes.

+ Details to include all views and dimensions necessary for construction.

+ Maintain design and engineering standards via QA/QC process

+ Makes copies of drawings and maintains information regarding changes to trackers.

+ Create record drawings from field notes.

+ Work with Design Leaders to develop civil drawings for underground utilities by developing utility base maps, determining the line of lay, and method of construction installation per clients standards and in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices and municipality standards.

+ Create restoration and multi-phased traffic control plans.

+ Work closely with other utility agencies and contractors.


**Qualifications of the Successful Civil Engineering Design Drafter:**


+ BS in Civil Engineering with 2+ years in civil design or an Associates Degree and 4+ years of experience with civil design, base mapping or underground features.

+ Proficiency in AutoCAD or Civil 3D is required, (you will use AutoCAD)

+ Experience with as built that include any of following underground structures: electrical, telecom, fiber optic, sewers, curbs, etc. is highly desired.

+ Work ethic that values quality & exactness of drawings versus quantity is required to be successful.

+ This is a take your time, submit your best drawing environment, not a draw quickly, wait for a red line culture.

+ Experience creating base maps or using base mapping techniques is highly preferred.

+ Prior permitting experience a plus.

+ Must have a dedicated workspace at home with high-speed internet. Computer, docking stations, mouse, keyboard, and dual monitors will be provided.

+ Must be able to work standard office hours 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday Friday
