The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City (FRBKC) is seeking cloud engineers to join the Disbursement Services Modernization Initiative (DSMI). DSMI is an initiative to implement a modern cloud-based payments platform for the United States Treasury. The modern platform will provide numerous Treasury business capabilities supporting domestic payments, international payments, and payments to government agency grant recipients.
The DSMI team supports the development of cloud-based services that will comprise the modernized, resilient Treasury payments platform. This payments platform will be composed of a wide-range of technologies like Java, Angular, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, and Blockchain plus Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies like S3, API Gateway, EMR, Kinesis, Lambda, EKS, SQS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and many more.
The successful applicant should possess advanced knowledge about the end-to-end process of delivering software and have advanced expertise in one or more of the technologies listed above.
Bachelors degree specializing in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), or a closely related field, from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience.
Typically requires at least 6 years of relevant experience.
Advanced understanding or mastery of subject is required. Has specialized depth and/or substantial breadth of expertise in discipline. Often relied on to provide thought leadership regarding industry experience and knowledge. May make significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions. May provide input into strategic direction.
Performs work independently. Coaches, delegates, and reviews work of less experienced staff, as well as serves as a knowledge resource. May serve as a team lead. Acts with a great deal of discretion within general scope of established operational goals and plans. Exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Requires high degree of independent judgment and competence to achieve results and resolve significant issues.
Demonstrated ability to adapt and learn new technologies (e.g. cloud services, containers, etc)
Advanced knowledge of industry software development methodologies, standards and architecture frameworks.
Advanced expertise with modern CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tooling (e.g. Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, GitLab, Maven, Nexus, Fortify, Sonar, etc.) is required.
Experience using Terraform to deploy AWS cloud services is preferred.
Proficiency in Agile software development principles is required.
Expertise with Java Enterprise Applications (e.g. JEE, Spring, etc) is preferred.
Experience with AWS cloud services is preferred.
Develops presentations and technical writings that delivery complex ideas to audiences at all levels in a persuasive and convincing manner.
Effectively articulates customer vision and strengthens team alignment. Ability to analyze details and adopt a big-picture view.

Adept at transitioning between problem domains and levels of abstraction. Innovates and infuses different thinking patterns into domain.'

The primary desired work location for this position is Kansas City. We offer employees the flexibility to work from home up to 80 percent of the time, depending on specific team needs. Also considering full time remote candidates.
