HSBC is seeking a Senior Portfolio Manager to manage a portfolio of Commercial Real Estate assigned relationships and loans. The portfolio will consist of multifamily, industrial, office, student housing, life sciences, senior housing, retail and hospitality assets across the United States. Facility types will include construction, term, bridge, lines of credit, etc. Responsibilities include:
Prepare annual (or more frequent) in-depth analytical reviews for assigned loans detailing property performance, guarantor performance, and sponsor financials to recommend and justify appropriate risk rating to internal Credit Approvals Unit.
Effectively and proactively manage the credit quality of the portfolio seeking to prevent impairments and responsibly addressing and overseeing any credit issues in addition to monitoring risk grades.
Develop and maintain knowledge of sales, rentals, general and area-specific market conditions on a local as well as national basis and identify and subscribe to reliable information sources to support review activities.
Manage work flow and annual review assignments and monthly covenant governance conference call – which is a monthly meeting to identify and discuss loans with a focus on sub-performing and Worry Watch Monitor loans (i.e. loans that have failed or are close to failing performance covenants, property performing well below underwriting grid projections, delays in construction, etc.).
Control attestation – Annual Reviews – keep track of Out of Approvals on a monthly basis; communicate with portfolio managers and relationship managers regarding any past due assignments. On a quarterly basis, record and submit Out of Approvals results in Helios.
Mentor junior portfolio management staff regarding credit analysis, bank policy, and best practices. Review draft work for completeness prior to submission.
Participate in and assist with internal and external audits.

Monitor property performance through receipt and tracking of operating statements, raising issues with internal stakeholders.
Mentor portfolio management staff regarding credit analysis, bank policy, and best practices.
Ensure portfolio management staff is acting with integrity and consistency in annual review assignments and completing timely annual reviews in compliance with internal policy and regulatory requirements.
Manage and maintain reporting systems to identify existing or potential impairments to loan security.
Update procedures related to the Portfolio Management function.
Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks and monitor workflow effectively.
