We are looking for a talented Senior Research Engineer(Connected and Intelligent Systems Research) to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Corporate Organization in Columbus, IN / your remote home office. This hybrid role will be based out of Columbus, IN with flexibility for remote work, with a weekly onsite presence required approximately 2 days/week.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Work independently as well as with a diverse team to develop and apply advanced technology solutions to Cummins products and services using modeling, advanced controls, optimization, estimation, and connectivity technologies.
Validate performance of the developed solution through simulations and application on target product to mature technology to be transferred to the Cummins business.
Document technology and results through patent applications, technical reports, and publications.
Stay current with advances in system technologies to seek out new ideas and applications.
Work in a team environment with colleagues across Corporate Research and Technology and business units as needed.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Doctorate degree in an Engineering field (Electrical/Mechanical/Computer) with research experience in the application of advanced control methods and system optimization such as optimal control, MPC, estimation, or detection algorithms
Or masters degree in related areas of control or computer science with demonstrated experience in the application of control, optimization, or machine learning systems
Minimum 2 years of experience in controls
Knowledge and application of advanced control, optimization, estimation, and simulation.
Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink and a programming language such as C, C++, or Python.
Demonstrated ability in research and product development and validation through simulation.
Demonstrated ability in research and product development through rapid prototyping tools such as Speedgoat or dSPACE is desired.
