Position Summary
Samsung Electronics America (SEA) is looking for a Content Counsel to support to our Content and Services team. Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing and negotiating content licenses, app distribution agreements, as well other related contracts relating to ad tech, marketing and advertising, and a wide variety of other commercial agreements as needed.
Role and Responsibilities
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Review, draft, negotiate and execute a variety of agreements, with particular focus on: (1) App distribution (via online and mobile syndication, mobile applications, broadband-connected devices and platforms (2) Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (3) original programming and production, (4) ad sales and strategic marketing, (5) software and technology
Drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide variety of deals with content providers, entertainment companies, advertising demand-side platforms and supply-side platforms, and software developers
Advising and supporting the Content and Services team and other business partners within SEA and Samsung headquarters in South Korea
Advising on legal issues arising from existing content and commercial relationships
About you:

You have excellent business and legal judgment. A superior ability to assess risk and determine priorities based on that risk assessment as well as the needs of the business
Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and complete them on time
Ability to successfully manage aggressive deadlines while thriving in a fast-paced environment
Excellent negotiating skills, keen analytical abilities, a pragmatic approach to problem solving, as well as a track record of success in handling complex business and legal issues in a fast-paced, agile and evolving technology-driven business environment
Experience with domestic and global content licensing, linear and on-demand rights and distribution, and related regulatory matters
Proven ability to quickly understand complex products and services, while identifying key issues and risks and offering creative solutions for business enablement
Minimum 8 years of experience with a law firm or combination of law firm and in-house experience
In depth experience in commercial contracting and content licensing and distribution
You understand ad tech, digital media and OTT, and are up to date on the various licensing structures and processes that are customary in the media industry
Bachelors degree and a Juris Doctorate degree from a U.S. accredited law school
Licensed to practice law in the State of New York
Comfortable with coast to coast travel
Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions:
The position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
Operate PC and product test equipment more than 75% of work time in an alternating sedentary and highly mobile position.
Lift, move, or adjust general test equipment, boxes, supplies, materials or products weighing up to 25 pounds using proper materials handling equipment and procedures.
High level of visual acuity, numeric/character distinction and moderate color distinction for accurate test equipment operation, for information analysis and error recognition.
High hand/finger dexterity with fine motor coordination skills to perform electronic component repair work.
Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids representative and commonly associated with electronic component test, assembly and repair work including test equipment, testing devices, technician hand tools, cables, etc; first aid kit is available and prescription safety glasses are required in certain test areas.
Under general supervision where general policies govern, daily activities are only sometimes monitored
Frequently works additional hours beyond normal schedule
