SAS is seeking an experienced equipment engineer to support advanced CVD equipment in its state of the art 300mm Fab in Austin, TX. The individual selected for this position will work closely with equipment technicians and other engineers to improve equipment reliability, output, quality and cost.
Role and Responsibilities
Work with equipment technicians and process engineers to develop maintenance plans and troubleshoot the more challenging equipment issues for a 24/7 high volume manufacturing site.
Provide expert knowledge and judgment for change point management decisions.
Create and improve maintenance procedures (SOPs, PM planning, PTPs) and troubleshooting practices.
Take ownership of complex problems related to equipment downtime, product yield, cost, and output.
Formulate ideas/experiments that can provide a path for improvement.
Develop project schedules.
Produce on-time results with professional, high quality reports presented with appropriate graphical and statistical analysis.
Respond to critical fab events that require urgent containment and resolution to ensure minimal impact to product. Identify root cause of incidents, corrective actions and future preventative measures through 8D methodology.
Provide technical leadership, train and mentor junior engineers and equipment technicians to spread knowledge and improve team efficiency.
Routinely monitor equipment performance and take action on trends that demonstrate abnormal behavior.
Set the example for maintaining the CVD Teams high quality standards.
Support technology node transfers and factory ramps through setup and qualification of new equipment.
Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and priorities
Effectively communicate as priorities and circumstances change.
Recognizes communication and task planning/passdowns are critical to maintaining a highly productive and team-oriented environment.
Respectfully challenge status quo, assumptions, conclusions or quality standards to ensure correct decisions are being made.
Workdays and hours: 1st Shift Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm.
Skills and Qualifications
BS/MS Engineering - Chem Engr, EE, Material Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
Min 2 - 5+ years of related experience.
Desire to take on technical challenges and shifting priorities in a fast paced cutting edge environment.
Able to work with others in a team-oriented culture.
Experience resolving advanced mechanical/electrical equipment issues.
Experience establishing Preventative Maintenance documents and schedules to reduce breakdown maintenance and improve uptime (TPM).
Experience training and working alongside maintenance technicians to improve their skillset and help troubleshoot problems.
Experience with data analysis: able to quickly analyze, summarize, and present data in an easy to understand format.
Experience with project management and project prioritization.
Ability to define milestones for a project, work in parallel on multiple projects, and balance long term projects with daily sustaining.
Experience with continuous improvement processes.
Ability to rapidly come up to speed with new computer applications and systems.
Able to work for several hours per week in a clean room environment.
Desired Knowledge/Skills but not required:
Knowledge and familiarity with semiconductor equipment: vacuum systems, RF systems, plasma, MFCs, pneumatic valves, recipes, safety considerations & protocols, schematics, maintenance scheduling, etc.
Ability to manipulate and interpret equipment sensor data for the purpose of advanced equipment troubleshooting and setting up controls for equipment sensors.
Experience in the semiconductor environment or in high volume manufacturing.
VBA, Python, SQL, or other basic programing.
DOE/advanced statistical analysis/JMP/Minitab/Spotfire.
