Job Summary
The Fitch Group Chief Data Office (CDO) team is seeking an Enterprise Data Platform Leader to join us in our New York City location. This is a formative opportunity to influence and innovate as part of the new CDO function. A primary objective of this role is to enable our internal and external customers to easily access and consume data to support new product innovation, existing product workflows, operational reporting and ad hoc analytics. In this role, you'll be responsible for the strategic direction, management and delivery of the data infrastructure and tools used to transform and consume data across the enterprise. This includes data for product development and operational use, and downstream analytics. Initially, the focus will be on modernizing the platform and tools that house data which supports Fitch products, ensuring alignment with Fitch's overall strategy and related business, enterprise, security and data architecture. This position reports to the Chief Data Officer.
Primary Responsibilities
Leveraging our existing data platforms, your role is to recommend, design and build an enterprise data platform that consists of, for example, a data warehouse, lake, ODS, as well as a self-service environment and path to production for new product development
Work closely with business stakeholders so that the platform is aligned with and capable of supporting current, emerging and future requirements - both core/known needs, and exploratory/unknown needs
Intrinsic to this role is selling the vision and value of a modernized infrastructure to both business and technical stakeholders
Build and manage a team of highly technical associates focused on designing and configuring a platform to ensure proper configuration management and change controls for various production and discovery environments
Guide data engineers who are distributed to various tribes and squads on technology utilization and best practices
Assess our current landscape for extract/transform/load (ETL) and business intelligence (BI) applications, develop and implement the roadmap for consistency and fit-for-purpose across the enterprise
Design and implement operational intelligence best practices, from a technical standpoint, and share guidelines and repeatable processes for technology support teams and business users
Provide support as required to ensure the availability and performance of developed reports and dashboards for internal and external users
Provide technical guidance and establish cross-training best practices
Enable enterprise-scale operational and analytical reporting capabilities
Team and interlock efforts with Strategic Business Intelligence (SBI), Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Data Management & Architecture, Data Science and Emerging Technology (AI/ML) teams
Qualifications
15+ years' experience working with both large operational and data warehousing environments
15+ years' experience with ETL and operational intelligence tools and thorough knowledge of the current application landscape
10 years' experience building and leading high performing teams
Experience in the Financial Services industry a plus
Track record of leading enterprise transformation initiatives with executive buy-in
Big data and data lake deployment experience (Amazon S3, Hadoop, Spark)
In-depth knowledge of platform design & administration of various databases (e.g. Oracle, MongoDB, MySQL, Amazon Aurora, Amazon Redshift, DynamoDB)
ETL deployment experience (e.g. Talend, Alteryx, AWS Glue), including ingestion patterns, and understanding of the role of data stewardship
Strong knowledge of the operational intelligence and data visualization landscape (e.g. Qlik Sense, Tableau) and deployment expertise with these applications
Familiarity with data governance and lineage systems (e.g. Collibra, Octopai, Kylo)
Experience with messaging and streaming (Oracle AQ, JMS, Kafka, Amazon Kinesis)
Ability to conceive and portray the big data picture and be able to develop an end-to-end vision for the enterprise
Capability of selling, initiating, evaluating, and shaping projects from the perspective of the entire organization
Ability to express complex technical information in understandable user-friendly language and style; collaborate in one-on-one and group settings
Exceptional relationship building, management and organizational skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting and collaborating with other leaders and associates throughout the organization, including executive management
Ability to lead, advise, manage and oversee the work of others
Ability to assess situations or people and emphasize methodology, governance, modeling, and technology

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or similar discipline
