Key to KPMGs Advisory growth strategy is embedding data & analytics in everything we do, and in all aspects of our client delivery. KPMG is currently seeking a Data Scientist to join our Data Science group within Signals Repository team which is a central to KPMGs Advisory Data Organization (ADO). The Signals Repository is a KPMG created platform to enable data scientists & analysts to build machine learning (ML) enabled business solutions using open-source data (see video) (http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjx4m295aia&feature=youtu.be) . Today, the platform connects to 100K regularly updated data elements from around the globe, which power applications across insurance, financial services, consumer products & healthcare industries to name a few. Whether determining the best location to site a new restaurant/bank/clinic, estimating risk of a home/auto/individual insurance claim, forecasting national inflation rates or monitoring COVID-19 hot-spots (see video) , access to the data & tools accelerate & enhance the solution builds. The platform has already enabled the delivery of $50M+ in engagement revenue and the platform continues to grow in terms of breadth & functionality.


This exciting role will require working with the Signals Repository team to develop reusable solutions and tools to enable promotion of Data Science assets to Advisory professionals and enhance client delivery.


Responsibilities:


+ * In collaboration with the platform Data Strategy & Technology team lead, own and drive the technical development of the platform's critical end-user apps and services, including the platform's primary web portal and access point, data marketplace catalog, discovery, and community network capabilities, and leverage of end-user BI and advanced data analytics/science tools

+ * Partner with the platform's product management team to understand and translate business and functional requirements into data and technical specifications and tool configurations for advancement of the platform in-line with Advisory stakeholder needs

+ * Drive research, assessment, piloting, and support selection of KPMG and/or third-party tools, features, and technologies in alignment with stakeholder and product team requirements, including POCs, solution education and testing, licensing right-sizing, etc.

+ * Develop, own, and enable deployment of the product's technical roadmap and capability backlog, in alignment with the platform's strategic objectives, and in consideration for dependencies and integrations with other Advisory data and technology solutions

+ * Understand how each product fits into the overall system capability architecture and incorporate that knowledge into the product's data architectural design

+ * In collaboration with the platform's data strategy, product management, UI/UX, and technical development teams, continually evaluate market trends and competitive or alternate technologies, and reflect those into the platform product planning


Qualifications


+ Bachelor's degree in IT, Data & Analytics, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar field required.

+ 5+ years of relevant experience in Agile management of technical projects with at least one full project development cycle completed, from concept to release.

+ 5+ years hands-on experience working in data analytics and associated data domains, with deep understanding of data lifecycle management and data management principles, supported and enabled by modern cloud-based technologies.

+ Demonstrated experience with modern data modeling, BI, and advanced analytics tools for ML/AI solution development (Alteryx, Dataiku, RStudio, DataBricks, Python, Jupyter Notebooks, Power BI, Tableau, etc.)

+ Experience with building web portals, preferably with a customer focus (e.g. content management, customer onboarding, group or content management).

+ Experience with one or more modern, agile product development work management and reporting platforms (e.g. Azure DevOps, Jira, Github, Bitbucket).

+ Excellent ability to communicate, collaborate with, and liaise between geographically distributed business and technical audiences, in a primarily remote working environment, to deliver data solutions aligned to a common product vision and strategy
