The Hughes-Treitler Business Unit designs and manufactures state of the art plate-fin heat exchangers, cold plates, condensers, evaporators, and other heat transfer products. We provide custom design and engineering services, to high quality manufacturing standards, for the aircraft, engine and industrial heat exchangers in the mobile/marine/avionics/space and missile markets.
Position Summary:
An experienced operations management leader who will lead, manage, and drive the production, manufacturing engineering, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), maintenance, and facilities organizations of Hughes-Treitler. Hughes-Treitler is a low to medium volume, high mix, manufacturing operation located in Garden City, NY.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish and attain defined objectives in: sales, profit, working capital, linearity, on-time performance, productivity, scrap/rework reduction, and safety.
Establish budgets, manufacturing and sourcing strategies, objectives, event timetables, policies, capital, and labor requirements to support business objectives
Lead and direct the Production and Facilities departments in the reduction/elimination of Operational waste through deployment of lean practices OPEX and Six Sigma initiatives. Will require coordination with Materials and Quality Assurance.
Direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations with the objective of developing a world class manufacturing team.
Direct environmental, health and safety program and dealing with regulatory agencies on related matters, as required.
Develop and implement manufacturing strategy and readiness to support business objectives including low cost manufacturing planning.
Preparation for senior management approval of strategic plans in support of long-range/short range objectives, organization, establish budgets and strategies, event timetables, policies, capital requirements, and labor requirements.
Ensure the requirements of the customer are met, optimizing product value, reducing cost and insuring on time delivery.
Establish metrics, measurements and tools to improve efficiency, effectiveness and communication.
Required Skills and Abilities:
The ability to be conversant and understand Spanish is a plus.
Knowledge of Excel, Access, PowerPoint and other related software
Oracle is a plus
Travel: Maximum 40 - 50%
Education and Experience:
Proven record of success as a "hands on" operations management leader with at least 5-10 years' experience in similar role with a history of progressively responsible career progression.
Must have experience in medium volume / high mix production environments preferably, in the military or aerospace industries.
Demonstrated history of successful change management and designing and implementing operational excellence improvements such as lean manufacturing, demand flow, and six sigma.
Strong communications, interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
Familiar with manufacturing machining environment.
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering (Mechanical/Manufacturing) discipline. Master's degree in Operations/Industrial Management preferred.
