What we're looking for:
Gartner Digital Markets' brand Capterra ( www.capterra.com ) is looking for an Engineering Lead to join our Capterra Backend Team. We fulfill all the data needs for Capterra. Our current focus area is GraphQL, the GraphQL API for all our applications to provide a unified data model. In this role, you will lead a small team of senior software engineers
This position will include hands-on development and a close working relationship with our product owners, tech leaders, and development teams to build out products for our clients and website using Elixir, GraphQL and distributed systems.

Develop high quality, innovative, flexible, and scalable technical solutions for the Capterra brand.
Work on critical applications for the Capterra and Gartner Digital Markets brands.
Follow Agile Development methodologies.
Be a technical advisor to the team in distributed systems.
Participate and improve the engineering process through code and architecture review.
Technical strategy thinking and carve out backend future roadmap.
Lead projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Expect the team's needs and grow the team by hiring.
Grow senior engineers deep into their careers (Staff+).
What you'll bring to the team:
Experience leading a small software engineering team.
Effective project management with good communication skills.
Experience owning critical and scaled production systems.
Delivering feedback on team individual's performance and fostering their growth.
Modern development practices leveraging cloud services and CI/CD.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is a plus.
Nice to haves, depending on the team:
GraphQL API architecture experience.
Proficiency in Elixir.
Experience with streaming technologies (Kafka).
Understanding of Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Experience and insight into metrics and alerting (Datadog).
