We are a part of Emerging Technologies and Incubation Group focused on identifying breakthrough emerging solutions that create new markets and businesses for Cisco. We incubate these new opportunities in partnership with our business groups, partners and other startups. The team also continues to progress Ciscos important work with Standards bodies and manage research partnerships with leading-edge Universities.

What Youll Do

As a Frontend Software Engineer, you will work on various incubation projects. You will be part of a team which develops new MVPs and products that will be scaled out and taken to market to make a meaningful difference for Cisco and the industry. Specifically, you will:

• Develop user interfaces applying the latest in web development technologies and standard methodologies

• Turn UI/UX designs into prototypes and products working with back-end developers

• Collaborate with UX designers to ensure technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and improve usability

• Write reusable code and libraries

• Maintain technical documentation and define web code standards (style, comments, etc.)

• Identify new state of the art web patterns, frameworks, environments and adopt them

We cover the full stack, so you can start the day fixing a JavaScript bug, hack on the API over lunch, and investigate database performance issues before heading home. Or if you like, take some time to focus on delivering a new feature. This team does it all, so youll never be bored, and youll constantly be learning new technologies.

Who You'll Work With

The Emerging Technologies and Incubation (ET&I) team is a highly visible group which reports directly to Ciscos CEO. ET&I focuses on the next wave of innovation by anticipating, investing in, and incubating new technologies and business ventures.

You will be part of the incubation team to develop new products and bring them to market in a startup-like environment.

Who You Are

Were looking for a Frontend Software Engineer that enjoys wearing many hats, a self-starter thats willing to jump headfirst into the codebase and start creating or improving it immediately. If youve tried a few different web stacks and have your favorites, thats a good sign!

• Frontend Software Engineer with a minimum of 6 years of demonstrated proficiency in Web Development using well known JavaScript frameworks like ReactJS and consuming RESTful APIs exposed by microservices

• Deep knowledge of modern web front libraries & tools (Bootstrap, Angular, React, Webpack, )

• Software quality: experience with Git, deployment in multiple environments & automation

• Ability to take ownership of projects with minimal supervision

• Experience in developing complex software products with User Interface catering to multiple personas

• Delivering high quality code and components

• Understanding of microservices, cloud deployments, continuous integration and DevOps

• Experience of working in a fast-paced agile environment

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

• Curious and a genuine desire for learning new technologies and developing new ideas

• Fluent in written and spoken English

Desired Skills

• Good experience with full-stack development or one of the modern major web environments (PHP, NodeJS, Python, Go)

• Knowledge of continuous integration & delivery, release management, test driven development, and lean/agile development methodologies like Scrum/Kanban and DevOps

• Cloud Native: Containers, virtualization, Kubernetes, and OpenStack

• Ability to achieve/stretch goals, being proactive and agile while working with cross-functional teams including partners - in various time zones

Youll be a phenomenal fit if you:

• Can write in JavaScript easier than could in your native language

• Will see the importance of unit testing

• Are always on the lookout for ways to improve the codebase and developer experience

• Will care that the text isn't vertically aligned in that button
