Tetra Tech's commitment to hiring the best talent in the industry and helping them thrive professionally is stronger than ever . currently seeking a motivated, articulate, and dynamic Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist to support our natural resources projects and programs. The successful candidate will work with other GIS Specialists, data managers, and project managers across the company, providing a wide range of support on various contracts and projects.

The candidate will have the capacity to perform moderate to advanced GIS and data management tasks including geospatial and environmental data/database management, map/figure creation, data analysis and reporting, web-based mapping application development, mobile data collection setup and management. Will work in a team setting to support Project Managers/stakeholders with map/graphic, database, web-based mapping application development on environmental management and planning projects for various types of clients. Will interface with GIS Discipline Leads/Specialists, Project Managers, Field Personnel, and other Internal and External Clients.

Secondary functions may include occasional field work on projects/sites including assisting project managers and field staff with biological field surveys such as wetland delineations, saltwater fish surveys, and environmental site assessments.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists project team with preparation of map products, metadata, datasets, and electronic data collection tools for specific elements of Tetra Tech projects.

  • Develops or modifies deliverables based on detailed verbal or written instructions.

  • Compiles, evaluates, modifies, and analyzes data to support preparation of web-based mapping applications, figures, tables, graphs, databases, and reports.

  • Establishes and maintains required files to document data references, metadata, analytical methods, calculations, and rationale used in reaching conclusions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A BS or BA degree or higher in Environmental Science, GIS/Geography, Biology, Natural Resources, Marine Science, Computer Science, or related field

  • 2 to 5 years of experience working with ESRI's ArcGIS ArcPro software

  • Proficiency with ESRI's field data collection applications such as Field Maps and Survey123

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, cartographic map creation, ESRI ArcGIS Software

  • Strong oral and written communication/interpersonal skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to execute complex instructions

  • A Pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations is required.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Desired but not Required Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Server, Python, ArcGIS Model Builder, ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst extensions.

  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Portal, and ESRI Applications Web Appbuilder, StoryMap Builder, Experience Builder

  • Experience managing geospatial information in Spatial Database Engine (SDE) highly desirable.

  • Experience managing information/data in relational database systems such as Microsoft Access or SQL Server a plus.

  • Working knowledge of Apple IOS and Android Operating Systems.

  • Working knowledge of critical issues as they pertain to renewable energy and transmission projects.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Has ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing 35 lbs. and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.

  • Performs manual labor including excavation with shovels.

  • Availability to work extended field rotations (sometimes 10-12 days at a time).
