What Youll Contribute to OHM Advisors



As a highly talented GIS Technician, you will be faced with challenging GIS projects in the fields of Engineering, Planning, Architecture, and Water Resources. The individual must be able to demonstrate established knowledge in field data collection, GIS analysis, cartography, and/or geospatial data management.



Your Responsibilities



  • With guidance from our GIS field data collection experts, assist them with field data collection utilizing high-precision GNSS GPS receivers paired with ArcGIS Online field applications.



  • Assist in underground utility investigation, data collection, and processing.



  • Assist in Drone Imagery capture and processing. Opportunity to become an FAA Certified Part 107 Drone Pilot.



  • Become familiar and keep current with data collection & asset management concepts, principles, and practices.



  • Georeference & digitize construction plans.



  • Assist in modifying or developing municipal utility networks



  • Utilize ArcGIS Pro & ArcGIS Online to support successful project completion.



  • Learn how to use and utilize ArcGIS Desktop & Online maps.



  • Maintain field equipment and vehicle.



  • Attend project & professional development meetings.

What Youll Need to Succeed



  • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or related field. A focus on GIS is preferred.



  • 1-2 years of experience is desired, but not required.



  • Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS Software (Desktop, Pro, Online) and Mobile Mapping Applications (Field Maps) is required.



  • Knowledge of GPS/GNSS technology.



  • Knowledge in generating map products and an understanding of cartographic principles.



  • Excellent communication and organization skills with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.



  • Team-oriented mindset with strong listening and collaboration skills.



  • Ability to travel for fieldwork and meetings is required. Projected to not exceed 80-100% of the work week.



  • Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs and perform field work in a variety of weather and terrain.



  • Ability to operate hand tools.



  • Desire to learn new technologies & methodologies in the GIS field.



  • Safe work methods.



  • Customer service principles.



  • Local applicants from the Michigan or Ohio area are preferred.
