The Pfizer-BioNtech Covid-19 Vaccine (COMIRNATY) has launched in over 170 markets across multiple age groups under EUA or (C)MA regulatory pathways since Dec 2020, with more indications, formulations, and external stimuli expected. The evolving nature of Covid-19 and continued entry of new and different Covid-19 vaccines results in an especially complex external environment. One of the most important priorities for the mRNA Business Unit is the continued translation of frequent and complex external information into actionable strategy for the COMIRNATY Brand Team.
The current Covid-19 environment comprises anywhere from 4 - 12 major vaccines, dependent upon region/market, predominantly authorized for use in adults. Over the next 12 - 24 months, the number of Covid-19 vaccines may triple, with further expansion into different age groups and other sub-populations. As Pfizer-BioNTech develop adaptive formulations of the initial vaccine in parallel to virus evolution, understanding the evolving external environment and anticipating customer needs is critical for future success. The Global mRNA Competitive Intelligence Lead will be accountable for ensuring timely collection, analysis, and strategic direction to the Comirnaty Team as the external environment develops.
