Systems Engineering Research Center
GrADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT
The Systems Engineering Research Center (SERC) is inviting graduate students to apply for a Graduate Research Assistant position with experience in digital engineering modeling and simulation. This position reports to the Principal Investigator (PI) of the WRT1043: DAU-Digital Engineering Simulation research project.
To be considered for this position, the candidate must have:
Proficiency with Cameo (No Magic) MBSE tool suite
Knowledge of systems engineering practices from Concept of Operation (CONOPS), requirements, architecture, design to integration, and verification and validation
Experience with current systems development tools (e.g., Rhapsody, Doors, MagicDraw)
Knowledge of modeling, simulation, and rapid prototyping capabilities:
Model-based Systems Engineering (e.g., SysML, UML, CORE)
Model-based Engineering (e.g., CAD, CAE, Modelica, FMU/FMI, Matlab, Unity, Simulink)
Modeling and Simulation (e.g., Physics-based, CFD, FEA)
Mission and systems simulation (e.g., AGI STK, discrete event)
Rapid Prototyping (e.g., Linux System Administration/Networking/Internals, Python/ JavaScript / HTML SW Development, Database Technologies, Virtual Machines / Containers / Serverless)
Strong analytic and communication skills
Desired Skills:
Programming: Software, gaming technologies
Visualization: Mission and systems
Design: Use of Multidisciplinary Design, Analysis and Optimization tools and methods
Responsibilities
Develop a prototype of a digital engineering textbook with an emphasis in modeling and simulation
Assist in the curriculum development of digital engineering simulation
Conduct research based on the direction of the PI
Support demonstrations and pilot studies
Report on research results
Present results at conferences, workshops, and meeting with sponsors
Write workshop, conference, and journal papers
Develop and deliver courses on an as needed basis
Develop and cultivate relationships with various constituencies, including professional societies, research and educational organizations that will further advance the professional standing and have other distinct benefits to the Institute
Qualifications
An earned Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline or related science for this position and currently enrolled full-time as a graduate student in an engineering discipline or related science. Demonstrated ability to conduct research programs in areas of relevance to SERC.
This position is for Stevens students currently enrolled. Must have a fulltime status. Bachelors Degree required. This is a part-time hourly position.
