Job Description:

The Infrastructure Engineer shall possess the following capabilities:

  • Performs tasks in IT and telecommunications projects in at least (1) one of the following areas: Windows or Linux server system administration (e.g., Windows Server 2016/2019/or latest, various Linux flavors-e.g. centOS, CoreOS, Amazon Linux, etc.).

  • Integrating GOTS/COTS/open-source solutions, virtualization technology experience (e.g., VMWare, Zen, Citrix, KVM, CloudTamer), networking and TCP/IP protocols (e.g., Teradici, CISCO, Juniper), programming language (e.g. python, java, Golang) storage technologies (e.g., SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS), Cloud Native Storage Solutions (e.g. Rook, Ceph) remote access (e.g., Juniper SSL VPN), or other IT infrastructure technologies.

  • Performs system integration, system administration, or network engineering tasks

  • Contributes to the development of sections of IT and telecommunications systems.


Positions are available at the following four levels:

Infrastructure Engineer Level 0

Qualifications:

No demonstrated work experience required. Infrastructure experience on projects with similar engineering processes. Hands-on knowledge of professional or academic helpdesk.

At least one of the following Active Certifications: technical certification Cloud Services (Foundational/Fundamental: AWS, Azure or related Cloud Service Provider offering the Agency offers), OpenStack Certification (COA-Administrator) within 6 months, VMware (VMware Certified Associate in one of the following: VCA or vSphere, vRealize, Horizon, NSX Foundations or Professional or higher)


Infrastructure Engineer Level 1

  • Performs tasks in IT and telecommunications projects in at least (1) one of the following areas: Windows or Linux server system administration (e.g., Windows Server 2016/2019, various Linux flavors-e.g. centOS, CoreOS, Amazon Linux, etc.).

  • Integrating GOTS/COTS/open-source solutions, virtualization technology experience (e.g., VMWare, Zen, Citrix, KVM, CloudTamer), networking and TCP/IP protocols (e.g., Teradici, CISCO, Juniper), programming language (e.g. python, java, Golang) storage technologies (e.g., SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS), Cloud Native Storage Solutions (e.g. Rook, Ceph) remote access (e.g., Juniper SSL VPN), or other IT infrastructure technologies.

  • Performs system integration, system administration, or network engineering tasks.

Qualifications:

A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related technical discipline and three (3) or more years experience in virtual infrastructure engineering is required. An additional one (1) year of infrastructure experience on projects with similar engineering processes may be substituted for a Bachelors degree, six (6) for a Masters.

At least one of the following Active Certifications: technical certification Cloud Services (Associate/Specialty: AWS, Azure or related Cloud Service Provider offering the Agency offers), OpenStack Certification (COA-Administrator) or one year of OpenStack development or integration, VMware (VMware Certified Professional-VCP in one of the following: VCP-DCV, VCP-NV, VCP-CMA or higher).


Infrastructure Engineer Level 2

  • Performs tasks in IT and telecommunications projects in at least (1) one of the following areas: Windows or Linux server system administration (e.g., Windows Server 2016/2019, various Linux flavors-e.g. centOS, CoreOS, Amazon Linux, etc.), integrating GOTS/COTS/open-source solutions, virtualization technology experience (e.g., VMWare, Zen, Citrix, KVM, CloudTamer), networking and TCP/IP protocols (e.g., Teradici, CISCO, Juniper), programming language (e.g. python, java, Golang) storage technologies (e.g., SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS), Cloud Native Storage Solutions (e.g. Rook, Ceph) remote access (e.g., Juniper SSL VPN), or other IT infrastructure technologies.

  • Performs system integration, system administration, or network engineering tasks

  • Performs tasks in IT and telecommunications projects in at least (1) one of the following areas: Windows or Linux server system administration (e.g., Windows Server 2016/2019 or latest, various Linux flavors-e.g. centOS, CoreOS, Amazon Linux, etc.), integrating GOTS/COTS/open-source solutions, virtualization technology experience (e.g., VMWare, Zen, Citrix, KVM, CloudTamer), networking and TCP/IP protocols (e.g., Teradici, CISCO, Juniper), programming language (e.g. python, java, Golang) storage technologies (e.g., SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS), Cloud Native Storage Solutions (e.g. Rook, Ceph) remote access (e.g., Juniper SSL VPN), or other IT infrastructure technologies.

  • Should be capable of designing and delivering solutions.

  • Ability to work complex research projects as senior contributor and as part of an integrated research team.

  • Strong communication skills and experience working directly with customers.


Qualifications:

A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related technical discipline and seven (7) years of experience in infrastructure engineering is required. An additional four (4) years of infrastructure experience on projects with similar engineering processes may be substituted for a Bachelors degree, six (6) for a Masters. At least one of the following Active Certifications: technical certification Cloud Services (Associate/Specialty: AWS, Azure or related Cloud Service Provider offering the Agency offers), OpenStack Certification (COA-Administrator) or one year of OpenStack development or integration, VMware (VMware Certified Advanced Professional-VCAP in one of the following: VCAP-DCV, VCAP-NV, VCAP-CMA or higher).



Infrastructure Engineer Level 3

  • Performs tasks in IT and telecommunications projects in at least (1) one of the following areas: Windows (2019, 2016, Win10, etc.) or Linux (Ubuntu, CoreOS, centOS, RHEL, Amazon Linux2, etc.) server system administration (e.g., Windows Server 2016/2019, various Linux flavors-e.g. centOS, CoreOS, Amazon Linux, etc.), integrating GOTS/COTS/open-source solutions, virtualization technology experience (e.g., VMWare, KVM, CloudTamer), networking and TCP/IP protocols (e.g., Teradici, PCoIP, CISCO,), programming language (e.g. python, java, Golang) storage technologies (e.g., SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS), Cloud Native Storage Solutions (e.g. Rook, Ceph) remote access (e.g., Juniper SSL VPN), or other IT infrastructure technologies.

  • Performs system integration, system administration, or network engineering tasks

  • Performs tasks in IT and telecommunications projects in at least (1) one of the following areas: Windows or Linux server system administration (e.g., Windows Server 2016/2019 or latest, various Linux flavors-e.g. centOS, CoreOS, Amazon Linux, etc.), integrating GOTS/COTS/open-source solutions, virtualization technology experience (e.g., VMWare, Zen, Citrix, KVM, CloudTamer), networking and TCP/IP protocols (e.g., Teradici, CISCO, Juniper), programming language (e.g. python, java, Golang) storage technologies (e.g., SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS), Cloud Native Storage Solutions (e.g. Rook, Ceph) remote access (e.g., Juniper SSL VPN), or other IT infrastructure technologies.

  • Should be capable of designing and delivering solutions.

  • Ability to work complex research projects as senior contributor and as part of an integrated research team.

  • Strong communication skills and experience working directly with customers

  • Strong communication skills and experience directing technical staff, and working with customers to satisfaction of work performance.

  • Demonstrated work experience in areas such as IT and telecommunications systems engineering, system integration, development and operations, project execution and quality oversight, resource identification and allocation, financial tracking and reporting.

  • Engineering experience related to IT and telecommunications technologies such as electrical engineering, computer science, information systems management, or a similar career field related to information systems or telecommunications systems.


Qualifications:

A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related discipline and twelve (12) or more years experience in infrastructure engineering. An additional four (4) years of infrastructure experience on projects with similar engineering processes may be substituted for a bachelors degree, six (6) for a Masters.

At least one of the following Active Certifications:

technical certification Cloud Services (Professional/Expert/Specialty: AWS, Azure or related Cloud Service Provider offering the Agency offers), OpenStack Certification (COA-Administrator) or two (2) years of OpenStack development or integration, VMware (VMware Certified Design Expert in one of the following: VCDX: VCDX-DCV, VCDX-NV, VCDX-CMA or higher).
