The Instruments & Control System Specialist provides knowledge and expertise in instrumentation, instrumented control systems and automation (including SCADA) systems. As part of the I&E Projects Group supporting Chevrons Mid-Continent Operations at the Permian Basin, selected candidate will be part of a high-performance team responsible for a portfolio of facility focused projects ensuring instrumentation, automation and control systems are being integrated into the Chevron Mid-Continent Process Control Network.
Selected candidate will be supporting the integration of new and/or upgraded assets into the Mid-Continents Process Control Network (PCN) by leveraging technical services during design, factory tests, installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning phases as well as supporting pre-start up safety reviews. During Start-Up and early production phases, our Instrument & Control Specialists provide support to maintenance and field operations personnel including control strategy tunning, remote access data validation and lessons learned for future similar developments.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
+ Support Instrument & Electrical Engineers during project execution for brownfield and greenfield projects applying OE tools such as Management of Change process.
+ Leverage field-based expertise in support of integration for different platforms and third-party equipment including motor control centers, gas compression, LACT units and fire & gas detection/control platforms.
+ Leverage technical capabilities in troubleshooting, pre-commissioning and commissioning for field instrumentation and control systems.
+ Configure data mapping for remote access and SCADA applications for field equipment including third party supplied controllers.
+ Develop remote troubleshooting activities in coordination with field operations and maintenance personnel.
+ Return lessons learned and design improvement recommendations documented via redline process and as-built documentation.
Special Considerations.
Regular travel (>50%) to area field offices or project locations in Texas and Southeastern New Mexico may be required.
Required Qualifications.
+ Associates degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Tech., Automation, Electronics, Mechatronics or Electronic Systems Technologies.
+ Must have proven experience in Instrumentation & Electrical project execution within the last 5 to 10 years since graduation.
+ Demonstrate proficiency in configuration of control strategies for industrial applications using at least one of the following families of Programable Controllers: Emerson based architecture (ROC, Rx3i, PAC), AllenBradley (ControlLogix, PlantPax), Schneider SCADAPack.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience working in Oil & Gas Industry including upstream, midstream and refinery environments.
+ Demonstrate abilities with implementation, screen development and data mapping for the Human Machine Interfaces: Wonderware Intouch, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View.
+ Demonstrate proficiency in interpretation of Control Philosophies, Cause and Effects and P&IDs in preparation of Ladder Diagram, Instruction List, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text, and/or Sequential Function Charts for controls system.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills towards effective interaction in both technical and non-technical business environments.
+ Experience with Control Systems programing tools such as Proficy ME, RSLogix, ROCLINK.
