Northrop Grumman Enterprise Services is seeking a highly motivated, detailed-oriented Systems Engineer to join our team of diverse individuals working virtually to support research and development networks. The successful candidate will become part of the Missions Systems Program Management Office (PMO) in Northrop Grumman Enterprise Services and support systems and network engineering activities. The candidate should possess exceptional strengths in leadership, analysis, complex technical problem solving, customer focus, communications and mentorship as the role will require collaborative efforts between the customer representatives, vendor partners, and mentorship of junior team members.
The candidate should have a diverse IT background and strong hands-on technical experience and will support heterogeneous unclassified computer networks. The network environments include Cisco, Linux, Windows and VMware Virtualization, with emphasis on supporting the deployment of an on-premise cloud using VRealize Automation (vRA) and VRealize Orchestrator (vRO).
Responsibilities include system design and evaluation, hardware/software installation and configuration, requirements analysis, and developing Infrastructure-as-Code automation artifacts. Duties will include maintaining system/software artifact documentation, developing infrastructure support procedures, and providing security support.
+ Perform as primary VMware Systems Administrator including the VMware private cloud.
+ Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.
+ Support multiple networks and ensure necessary administration tasks are completed.
+ Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
+ Lead teams in the design and implementation for advanced automation of modern infrastructure as code-based solutions.
+ Coordinate with information security personnel for compliance with security requirements solutions.
+ Analyze customer requirements and determine equipment and software requirements for solutions to problems by means of automated systems.
+ As part of an engineering team, design and install new nodes on the network from site survey, network design, equipment specification and configuration (routing, switching), services (DNS, DHCP, etc.), testing and go live
+ Ability to generate clear requirements and specifications documentation.
+ Continuously learn new technologies, work in a team environment, provide technical guidance, and mentor others as needed.
+ Ability to design a flexible solution to support infrastructure hosting workloads on premise and in Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ BS in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or other closely related engineering discipline and 5 years of professional experience; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD
+ Ability to lead the design, implementation and maintenance of complex systems and networks and coordinate maintenance activities with other team members and users to produce least impact solutions.
+ Provide technical leadership to internal and external personnel on highly complex system installation processes.
+ Ability to operate as part of an engineering team, including knowledge of related disciplines.
+ Strong working knowledge of virtual technologies including VMware; including configuration and troubleshooting
+ Skilled in one or more of the following: VMware vRealize Automation, AWS/Azure/Cloud Technology, Kubernetes platforms (Rancher, OpenShift, VMware Tanzu), DevSecOps
+ Good understanding of IP4 and IPv6 network design, including IP subnetting and protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
+ Good understanding of advanced features, e.g., GRE, IPSEC, IP quality-of-service, VLANs, and multicast.
+ Good understanding network security features, e.g., IP access-lists and stateful protocol inspections.
+ Familiar with network management protocols, e.g. SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS
+ Experience automating tasks using scripting languages like Powershell, PowerCLI, UNIX Shell Scripting, Python, JavaScript
+ Proficiency with Enterprise Linux (RHEL/CentOS) operating system including configuration and troubleshooting
+ Ability to work flex and overtime hours with some weekend hours expected
+ Lift equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.

**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ BS in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or other closely related engineering discipline and 9 years of professional experience; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
+ Experience with one or more of the following: VMware vRealize Automation, AWS/Azure/Cloud Technology, Kubernetes platforms (Rancher, OpenShift, VMware Tanzu), DevSecOps
+ Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure-as-Code automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform
+ Experience maintaining configuration baselines using Salt Stack is a plus
+ Familiar with network management tools e.g. Splunk, Firepower Management Center (FMC), and/or Cisco ISE, SolarWinds
+ Exposure to the Risk Management Framework, associated security controls, and STIGs.
+ Knowledge and experience integrating applications using web services (SOAP, REST)
+ Experience designing / architecting / transforming enterprise level services and applications
+ Experience with cyber security frameworks: RMF, NIST-800-171, Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC)
+ Experience working in teams using any of the following methods: Agile, Scrum, Lean Agile, or Kanban
+ Certification in Agile, DevSecOps, ITIL 4 Foundation, or other industry practices
+ Any of the following professional certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified DevOps engineer, CompTIA Security+, Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or equivalent
Salary Range: $92,200.00 - $138,400.00Salary Range 2: $114,300.00 - $117,500.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
