Leads and guides Radiology Technologists. Operates X-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body.

Job Responsibility

\r


\r

  • \r

  • * Assigns cases and other tasks to technical staff, establishes patient flow priorities room assignments, and prioritizes cases based on condition of patient.

  • \r

  • * Reviews examinations of the technical staff to assure standards of quality and completeness are maintained confirming items such as patient data side site markers etc are correct.

  • \r

  • * Proficient in all aspects of the RIS and PACS systems.

  • \r

  • * Provides direction, designates assignments and distributes work to transport staff.Prioritizes workload.

  • \r

  • * Provides on the job training to technical staff.Assists management by overseeing and providing input as to technical staff performance on a regular basis.

  • \r

  • * Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly condition at all times.

  • \r

  • * Maintains all logs, i.e fluoro, daily room checks, shift change, etc.

  • \r

  • * Oversees room checks in the department and reports all problems to a supervisor or manager as they occur.

  • \r

  • * Coordinates intra departmental and inter departmental communications

  • \r

  • * Makes emergency notifications as necessary to on call personnel.

  • \r

  • * Assigns break and lunch times to technologists and transporters according to department standards and routines.Makes substitutions and variations according to patient flow and departmental needs.

  • \r

  • * Orders supplies as needed and assists with inventory control.

  • \r

  • * Observes department of Radiation safety procedures to maintain in occupational exposures as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).

  • \r

  • * Transports patients when necessary to expedite examinations and or patient satisfaction.

  • \r

  • * Performs the duties of an X-ray Technologist.

  • \r

  • * Interfaces with patient, staff and physicians both within and external to the department to facilitate the improvement of the patient experience in every possible way

  • \r

  • * Works continuously to improve Press Ganey scores via patient satisfaction.

  • \r

  • Performs related duties as required.

  • \r

  • Constant standing and walking frequent stooping, bending, stretching, lifting, positioning, pulling, pushing, turning

  • Occasional sitting

  • Frequently lifts or moves objects

  • Occasionally carries objects weighing up to 50 pounds

  • \r

  • Frequently pushes patients or objects up to 200 pounds

  • \r

  • Occasionally moves with assistance, patients or objects greater than 250 pounds.

Job Qualification

\r


\r

  • \r

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program, required.

  • \r

  • New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.

  • \r

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Technologist (R.T.) required.

  • \r

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Radiologic Technologist, including competency in CAT scan or MRI examinations, required. \r
