SUMMARY:







The Manager, Multimedia is a team-oriented, interactive media and eLearning expert with a passion for mentoring others, improving team processes, staying apprised of current design trends, and creating industry-leading curricular materials. They are responsible for the oversight and development of engaging multimedia deliverables for instructor-led, online, and blended learning courses for West Coast University and American Career College.





Additionally, the Manager, Multimedia is a self-motivated and forward-thinking solutions provider with a holistic approach to custom, innovative media, graphics, and interactives. The Manager, Multimedia works closely with the instructional design and curriculum and technology teams, as well as subject matter experts and academic leaders, to design and deliver industry-leading media assets through branded educational technology systems to meet the needs of todays learners.





ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assesses needs of, and collaborates with, Instructional Designers, Academic Leaders, and Subject Matter Exports to translate teaching concepts into engaging interactive materials.



  • Manages the day-to-day operations for the Media Team and tracks open projects and tasks in the department project management software.



  • Works closely with curriculum and technology leadership to develop, maintain, and enhance team how-to knowledgebases and onboarding and team training resources



  • Provides vision, leadership, and support for a creative team that develops custom eLearning, interactive presentations, and a variety of other media assets for deployment on a mixture of devices.



  • Leads ADA and other compliance efforts in relation to course and media design, accessibility, and other state, federal or programmatic accreditation requirements related to online, blended, and virtual learning.



  • Provides technical knowledge and support in creating, modifying, and enhancing a diverse range of complex interactive media projects.



  • Builds and enhances team processes surrounding quality assurance while testing the presentations, interactions, and other learning media assets in the LMS and on a variety of devices.



  • Through continuous process improvement, oversees and enhances the media development processes and academic design services for West Coast University and American Career College.



  • Manages external media resources and vendors that promote and support innovation in online educational delivery.



  • Oversees the research of new technologies, creative industry best practices, and educational trends and approaches related to educational media design. Works with the Instructional Design team and Instructional Support teams to develop plans to introduce these findings.



  • Provides support and assistance in the creation of academic presentations, digital graphics, video, audio, and other media for online and mobile instruction while mentoring the Media and other development teams.



  • Travels to the various campus locations as needed to storyboard, film, and edit faculty videos to be included in a variety of academic deliverables.



  • Designs and implements processes surrounding troubleshooting learning technology systems and technical issues related to media deployment.



  • Oversees the Media Team collaboration, interaction, and workload with Instructional Designers, Academic Leaders, Subject Matter Experts, and Instructional Support teams to assess requirements and existing processes and tools to develop interactive media and academic solutions that align with the student and faculty needs.



  • Collaborates with the various stakeholders to provide technical and creative expertise and guidance in the design and deployment of prototypes and templates for learning interactions.



  • Communicates with department personnel when approaching out of office time to create team awareness and hand over un-resolved casework.



  • Participates in various team virtual collaboration spaces to confirm receipt of information and communicate when signing on/signing off.



  • Participates in meetings with camera enabled to maintain professional web presence.



  • Responds to all emails, calendar invitations, and project updates with professional and courteous language.



  • Adheres to College/University policies and procedures and conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the College/Universitys Code of Ethical Conduct, Compliance Agreement, Sexual Harassment Policy or any of its policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards.



  • Maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and as required to meet the needs of the College/University and assures time worked and/or time-off is recorded properly.



  • Exercises care, proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies and identifies unsafe conditions and makes appropriate adjustments.



  • Multitasks on multiple projects, producing high quality work under tight deadlines.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:




Required




  • Minimum 2 years experience leading media development and/or similar creative teams.



  • Minimum 5 years experience developing multi-media presentations, simulations and animations required.



  • Knowledge of web and mobile media creation and delivery best practices.



  • Experience with eLearning/online pedagogy and application of instructional design theory, adult learning theory principles, and practices for the development of online courses and programs in higher education.



  • Experience and displayed proficiency using various instructional technology tools to support online learning such as; Adobe Captivate, Articulate Studio, Adobe Creative Suite, and HTML5/CSS.



  • Ability to hire, retain, and manage highly effective technical and creative staff.



  • Project management experience with a proven track record of on-time, on-budget delivery.



  • Experience in managing development schedules using Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation & Evaluation (ADDIE) model, Scrum software development framework, or other industry-standard project management techniques.



  • Experience managing and improving design process, storyboarding, and team project management



  • Demonstrated understanding of copyright and accessibility requirements related to educational content



  • Proven ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technology and industry standards.



  • Proven ability to implement new processes, procedures, and standards in an environment of continuous improvement.



  • Demonstrated high attention to detail.



  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences in both verbal and written forms.




Preferred




  • Working knowledge of Panopto, Kaltura, or other enterprise-level video solution.



  • Experience in customizing LMS look, feel, and functionality using CSS, JavaScript, and HTML.



  • Experience with professional training facilitation or higher education online, face-to-face, and hybrid environment teaching experience a plus.



  • Experience with Sony video equipment and professional lighting and audio equipment preferred.



  • Experience working with enterprise-level customer support systems a plus.




Experience in the fields of allied health, nursing, or science is a plus.

EDUCATION:




  • Bachelors degree in education technology, instructional design, information technology, higher education leadership, or closely related field required.



  • Masters degree in education technology, instructional design, information technology, higher education leadership, or closely related field preferred.
