In this exciting role as a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will support the manufacture of high-quality components used in implantable medical devices. You will be responsible for improving manufacturing quality, lead time and cost through active problem solving, developing solutions, and implementing process changes in accordance with the quality system. This ideal candidate for this role will have the desire to learn about managing and implementing process control and monitoring through SPC, developing, and improving the capability of processes, and navigating the medical device manufacturing quality systems to include regulatory approvals and CAPA. This role reports to the Engineering Manager in the Capacitors Value Stream at the Medtronic Energy and Component Center (MECC) located in Brooklyn Center, MN. This role is expected to sit onsite 5 days a week with flexibility to work from home depending on business need.

A Day in the Life
-Leads/owns Corrective/Preventative actions (CAPA) to resolve production and customer issues
-Accountable for identifying and implementing GMP (good manufacturing practices)
-Provide training as needed to ensure Assemblers understand and follow GMP
- Identify process improvement opportunities via analysis and hands-on interaction with designated processes, including troubleshooting of mfg. issues when they occur
-Reduce scrap for specified lines by identifying opportunities and executing solutions.
-Participate in and or lead Cell Operating System conversions.
- Plans and performs a wide variety of technical tasks to develop robust processes and solve non-routine complex manufacturing problems in an effort to maximize consistency, cost effectiveness, and productivity.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Experience understanding proper documentation/quality requirements for a regulated environment
- Demonstrated computer experience such as with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience


Nice to Have
- Experience in medical product manufacturing / assembly operations
- Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma methodologies
- Understanding of -IQ/OQ/PQ
- Excellent data analysis skills, and proficient in the use of statistical tools in problem solving
- Experience interpreting mechanical drawings
- Experience with CAPA
