THE ROLE

The Merchandise Demand Planner is responsible for driving sales, margin and turn for an assigned area of business across festival stores and online channels. In this role, you will aggregate the financial plan and forecast across the assigned area of business to ensure they support and deliver company goals. You will also maintain planner responsibilities for the area of business as outlined below. The Merchandise Demand Planner will provide analytics and guidance to the PLM & Production Directors on strategies and tactics to achieve targets and aggressively pursue growth initiatives. The Manager will need to drive toward optimal inventory composition and level by channel and location. This is not a remote position.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads a cross-functional process to accurately assess inventory levels and sales velocity, forecast inventory requirements

  • Works with vendors to support sales, minimize excess inventory, and ensure our products are always available to the customer

  • Regularly review product inventory needs and build stock levels that ensure an in-stock position across all sales channels e-commerce and live festival retail (Shopify & Square)

  • Analyze product sales on a regular basis

  • Analyze historical sales trends, marketing activities, business intelligence, seasonality (high seasonality), and outside variables to estimate accurate levels of demand

  • Monitor channel inventory levels; maintain ideal levels of inventory to meet demand and drive sales

  • Maintain a constant relationship with the sales, marketing, finance, purchasing/sourcing, and production teams to understand the demand forecasting drivers

  • Successfully communicate forecast and inventory estimations to management

  • Monitor and report on important changes in sales forecasts, budgets, and business strategies

  • Quickly identify deviations from expected results and other disruptions then promptly resolve any issues

  • Contribute to new product forecasting assumptions

  • Participate in new category/R&D/launch meetings

  • Coordinate with Creative and Production teams to set launch quantities of new product releases

  • Manage end of life/excess & obsolete (E&O) stock items

  • Drive continuous improvement by analyzing current processes

  • Implement new forecasting methods, tools, and techniques to reduce effort and improve results

  • Recruit, train and onboard members on the team both directly and partnering teams

  • Other special projects and tasks as assigned as needed

  • Some travel may be required (economy)


QUALIFICATIONS

  • (4) Year College Degree Preferred

  • Apparel Magic Proficiency a plus

  • Highly knowledgeable of company products, product life cycles, and customer usage including seasonality shifts

  • Advanced math, analytical, and problem-solving skills required; manipulating data to quickly highlight trends, risks, and draw accurate conclusions from the data

  • A passionate sales advocate

  • Demonstrated business insight and a clear understanding of how decisions impact overall business strategies

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with a strong attention to detail

  • Ability to adapt to ever-evolving priorities, timelines and demands

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an aptitude for building a narrative around the data that leads to action

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel; a quick-learn as it relates to industry-specific software Google Suite is also a plus.

  • Above average knowledge and understanding of Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), purchasing, forecasting and inventory management


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels & busy environment

  • May work in drastic temperature climates

  • Must be willing to frequently work and travel to events during evening and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlines and work events

  • Must be able to frequently sit at a desk in front of a computer for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to repetitively use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls

  • Must be able to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away

  • Must have ability to recognize differences between colors, shades, and brightness
