While politicians and pundits gain attention by discussing infrastructure issues, our clients have been quietly investing in their communities housing need, hospitals, universities, schools, power plants, bridges and roads. To assist us in this effort, Citis Municipal Department is hiring Investment Banking Analysts and/or Assistant Vice Presidents, an intermediate level position, responsible for assisting our clients in raising funds in the capital markets, as well as in providing strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions and other types of partnership models in coordination with the Municipal Banking team. The overall objective of this role is to act as an underwriter and strategic advisor to our clients by formulating investment strategies and raising capital for clients. Historically, successful candidates have possessed many of the skills required for traditional investment banking roles, but also possess a civic-minded nature, ability to work within the confines of local politics and laws, and desire to help local communities invest in themselves.
Responsibilities may include:
+ Roles available in a Housing junior banker, Generalist or Quantitative Specialist
+ Ownership of quantitative optimization models in Excel, with use of VBA
+ Learn a clients historical financing trends
+ Research past uses of debt or derivatives and provide an overview of clients debt position
+ Develop presentations outlining our solutions to address client issues, challenges and strategic growth plan
+ Participate with bankers and clients in meetings and conference calls to review current market conditions, formulate future capital programs and understand clients needs and strategies
+ Apply new financing, optimization, and hedging strategies to financial transactions based on the clients financing needs
+ Utilize industry-approved third-party program (DBC) to prepare bond structures
+ Understanding of the transaction process and assist in the execution of transactions
+ Prepare responses to requests for proposals (RFP)
+ Work closely with various professionals in other areas of the firm, including syndicate desks, credit analytics and various solutions groups to pitch clients and execute bond transactions
+ Present documentation and pricing to investors and rating agencies
+ Credit and internal approvals, policy compliance, client entertainment, and deal closing coordination
+ Create and/or review disclosure and legal documents
+ Research market, credit, tax, regulatory, accounting, legal, policy and issuer-specific issues relating to prior or future transactions
+ Credit and debt capacity analysis skills and ability to understand and interpret financial statements
+ Assist in executing buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions including valuing businesses and supporting negotiation and documentation of transactions
Qualifications:
+ 2-8 years of relevant experience
+ Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or closely related areas
+ Specialization with VBA a plus
+ Experience working in an investment banking institution(s)
+ Experience in evaluating municipal, corporate transactions and structures
+ Experience creating financial analyses
+ Experience reading financial statements, inclusive of income sheet, statement of cashflows and balance sheet
+ Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
+ Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
+ Experience assisting with client development
+ Ability to work with teams and track business development (collect research, analyze industry trends)
+ Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment, producing accurate and detailed materials
+ SIE, Series 52, 79 and 63 licenses
