Job Responsibility
\r
*1. Admits patients to the Medical Center and provides information regarding Medical Center
\r
regulations and policies, such as Patient Bill of Rights, Health Care Proxy etc
\r
*2. Conducts interviews to obtain demographics, insurance information etc. and enters data into
\r
Medical Centers Patient Registration System
\r
*3. Communicates Medical Centers Collection Policy and collects deductibles and co-pay
\r
obligations
\r
*4. Obtains appropriate signatures on medical, legal and financial forms. Prepares charts, registration
\r
forms, patient addressograph plates etc. Forwards required items to nursing unit/clinic
\r
*5. Maintains manual bed board and reconciles daily census to nursing units. Notifies nursing unit of
\r
patients arrival and arranges to have patient escorted to their room
\r
*6. Contacts insurance carrier(s) to obtain all information necessary for the successful billing of 3rd
\r
Party payers in certain departments (coordination of benefits, benefit coverage/limits, co-
\r
pay/deductible amounts, authorization, pre-certification and referral requirements etc.)
\r
Re-verifies insurance of recurring patients
\r
*7. Performs financial assessments and Sliding Fee Scale Assessments of patients who are uninsured
\r
and/or are unable to meet their financial obligation to the Medical Center. Reevaluates sliding
\r
scale assignment annually
\r
*8. Reconciles charge documents with patient logs and enters charges into the Patient
\r
Registration System
\r
*9. Schedules patient for clinic visits, pre-admission testing, special tests and consultations, OR
\r
bookings and arranges patient transportation as necessary
\r
*10. Responsible for answer telephone, maintaining files, sorting mail and keeping inventory of
\r
supplies. Informs manager of all activities, needs and problems
\r
11. Performs related duties, as required
\r
*ADA ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS/EOE.

Job Qualification
\r
\r
Associates of Science Degree, required.
\r
Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) AND authorized as a Polysomnographic Technologist in New York State, required.
\r
OR
\r
Licensed in Respiratory Therapy by New York State AND Sleep Disorder Specialist (SDS), required.
\r
Basic Life Support for healthcare providers (BLS), required.
\r
\r
Minimum of three (3) months prior work experience in an accredited sleep center, required.
