Position Description:

Principal Technical Sourcing Specialist for Medtronic, Inc. at its facility in Mounds View, MN. Serves as the key point of contact between RD and our suppliers in order to develop critical medical devices. Responsible for the reduction and mitigation of risk, improve timelines and develop lasting relationship that are critical to meeting business and technical challenges. Understands and conforms with various medical device industry standards and regulatory requirements that meet the New Product Development cycle along with experience in supplier selection and developing sourcing strategies. Engage and utilize processes as a Sourcing Project Mgmt. function to coordinate the NPD BOM risk reduction with suppliers, Cross functional collaboration and driving the adoption of Capable Technologies Sources in Product Development to provide high Quality and Reliable products for patients resulting in Predictable Supply Competitiveness through full Product Launch. Responsible for risk assessment plans, time matrices, and test strategy (Plans and Reports). Provides Project Mgmt. for Sourcing deliverables and communication with cross-functional groups and suppliers. Responsible for Product Validation and Supplier Quality to include technical aspects of projects. Utilizes DRM tools and risk mitigation. Leverages Critical Feature Identification (CFI), PFMEA, developing inspection methods (variables and attribute) with Suppliers, and IQ/OQ and PQ activities with internal and external groups. Up to 25% travel to suppliers and conferences within the US or internationally.


Basic Qualifications:

Masters degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Biomedical Engineering and five (5) years of experience with technical sourcing or supplier quality; or a Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Biomedical Engineering and seven years of experience with technical sourcing or supplier quality. Must possess five years of experience in: Supplier selection and developing sourcing strategies, Risk assessment plans, time matrices, and test strategy (Plans and Reports), Project Mgmt. for Sourcing deliverables and communication with cross-functional groups and suppliers, Product Validation and Supplier Quality to include technical aspects of projects, DRM tools and risk mitigation, Critical Feature Identification (CFI), PFMEA, developing inspection methods (variables and attribute) with Suppliers, and IQ/OQ and PQ activities with internal and external groups. Must be willing and able to travel up to 25% to suppliers and conferences within the US or internationally.
