Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking Physicists. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grummans Transformational Technology Business Area, which is focused on developing innovative next generation superconducting electronics (SCE) and advanced computing technologies.
**This position requires work onsite at Northrop Grummans facility in Aurora, CO.**
**This requisition may be filled at a Principal Physicist or a Sr. Principal Physicist based on years of relevant experience and capabilities in the areas listed below.**
**Basic Qualifications for a Principal Transformational Physicist:**
+ Must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline (or will complete by December 2022).
+ Strong background in theoretical quantum mechanics, quantum information theory, condensed matter theory, or superconducting device theory
+ Familiarity with computational methods for analysis and simulation of quantum systems
+ Programming experience in C++, Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (US citizenship is required for this)
+ Proven skills at tackling/solving complex problems
+ A strong ability to learn new topics quickly in a fast-paced environment
+ A highly motivated self-starter
+ Works well in a collaborative, diverse environment
**Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Transformational Physicist:**
+ Must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline plus 4 years of relevant experience.
+ Strong background in theoretical quantum mechanics, quantum information theory, condensed matter theory, or superconducting device theory
+ Familiarity with computational methods for analysis and simulation of quantum systems
+ Programming experience in C++, Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (US citizenship is required for this)
+ Proven skills at tackling/solving complex problems
+ A strong ability to learn new topics quickly in a fast-paced environment
+ A highly motivated self-starter
+ Works well in a collaborative, diverse environment
**Preferred Qualifications for a both Principal and Sr. Principal Transformational Physicist:**
+ Strong background in linear algebra and/or numerical linear algebra
+ Experience with tensor network algorithms
+ Familiarity with quantum information, quantum error correction, and/or fault-tolerant quantum computation.
+ Familiarity with quantum characterization, verification, and validation protocols including randomized benchmarking and quantum state/process tomography
+ Familiarity with abstract mathematics including group theory and representation theory
+ Familiarity with algorithms, quantum algorithms, and theoretical computer science
+ Familiarity with condensed matter and/or many-body theoretical physics
+ Familiarity with noise-modeling and/or decoherence mechanisms
+ Experience with simulation of quantum mechanical systems including time-evolution
+ Experience modeling, designing and/or simulating superconducting qubits

Salary Range: $117,200.00 - $175,800.00Salary Range 2: $145,200.00 - $217,800.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
