Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a **Principal World Class Opposing Forces (WCOPFOR) Operations Officer** to join our growing team of diverse professionals at **Fort Leavenworth** in **Kansas** . The selected candidate will join our Mission Command Training Program (MCTP), which trains Army Corps, Divisions, and Brigades in the Army Mission Command Systems and Operations Process. This is done through an integrated simulation to replicate a robust Operating Environment (OE). Units conduct exercises in Large Scale Combat Operations with all appropriate operational variables that would be present in a theater of operations in order to develop efficiency in the operations process.
The WCOPFOR Operations Officer plans, prepares, and executes five Division and/or Corps level exercises per year. In the Planning, WCOPFOR uses the Military Decision Making Process to produce a competitive Corps level Operations Order. In Preparing, the WCOPFOR will brief the Operations Order to the Observer Coach/Trainers (OC/Ts) of other Operations Groups, and to our Part Time employees that will conduct the exercise. In the execution, the Operations Officer will use the Operations Order and execute command post functions to prosecute the war-fighting exercise.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Conducts mission analysis of higher headquarters guidance.
+ Produces a Corps level Operations Order for each Warfighter Exercise (WFX)
+ Coordinates and synchronizes all warfighting functions (WfF) in all plans and orders
+ Develops plans, orders, branches, and sequels
+ In charge of the planning and preparation process
+ Operationally apply current Army and Joint Doctrine to develop WfF appropriate concepts for respective Exercises
+ In cooperation with WCOPFOR Staff, write Orders and WfF Annexes at the Corps and Land Component level to direct operations based on the developed concept
+ Integrate additional WfF personnel as required to facilitate planning and execution
+ Develops and presents appropriate training to inform exercise support staff (MCTP, HICOM, Exercise Control Group) about the WCOPFOR Scheme of Maneuver
+ Coordinates with adjacent divisions, Operations Groups, and organizations as directed
+ Attends weekly Exercise Working Groups (EWG) meeting for respective exercises to facilitate common understanding
+ May be required to travel for planning conferences (up to 10% of the time)
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ One of the following:
+ High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
+ Bachelors degree with a minimum of 6 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
+ Masters degree with a minimum of 4 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
+ U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course, or Military Education Level 4 (MEL 4) equivalent Intermediate Level Education (ILE)
+ U.S. military service as a Field grade officer (MAJ, LTC, COL) or above
+ Familiar with current Army and Joint Doctrine
+ Proficient with MS Office suite of software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access)
+ Must currently possess a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
+ Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas
+ Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time)
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Brigade or higher Staff Officer experience
+ Former Brigade of higher Planner
+ Former OC/T
+ Mastery of US Army Doctrine
+ MEL 4 Resident ILE graduate
+ Experience in designing and planning Army exercises
+ Familiar with current OPFOR Hybrid Threat Doctrine
Salary Range: $65,800.00 - $98,800.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
