About this role:
Gartner Category Managers play an essential role in leading strategic sourcing opportunities, developing category plans, and negotiating highly complex contracts, often on a global basis, on behalf of multiple stakeholders. They are highly effective communicators, able to articulate the value proposition of partnering early and often with the greater Source to Contract (S2C) team. This role will be primarily focused on Facilities (Facilities Management Services, Cafeteria Services, Mailroom Services, Courier Services, Office Supplies, Construction, Physical Security, Health and Safety as well as Corporate Social Responsibility Services) and will also support Corporate Business Units such as Human Resources, Finance, Legal with Professional Services/Consulting, Recruiting Subscription and SaaS Agreements as needed.
What you'll do:
Establish strong relationships with stakeholders across Gartner's global entities; building a robust understanding of mission critical priorities and requirements across spend categories and suppliers.
Act as a team player always practicing a "work smarter" mindset.
Develop Category Plans for Facilities and present to senior management spend trends, sourcing opportunities, supplier consolidation initiatives and market information.
Collaborate with the VP of Vendor Management on negotiation planning and strategies.
Drive and manage strategic initiatives relating to sourcing of new suppliers, in particular conducting RFx (RFP, RFI, RFQ) as applicable.
Act as extension of the Real Estate business unit, providing guidance and equipping stakeholders and business partners with the tools and information required to make smarter decisions when choosing to engage with a particular supplier.
Be proactive in ensuring that stakeholders understand potential risks and how to best hedge against them if/when needed.
When applicable, be fully engaged in Corporate Services related projects supporting the overall S2C team.
Promote and develop effective negotiation strategies and focus on delivering the highest & best value to Gartner.
Partner with the appropriate teams (Legal, Risk, Ombuds, et al) in ensuring agreement terms minimize risk and properly protect Gartner interests.
Lead and facilitate completion of forms/contracts needed by BUs, including but not limited to NDAs, Addendums, Amendments, SOWs, Master Agreements/SaaS and Order Forms.
Promote S2C's value and how S2C can assist Business Units (BUs), while also promoting BUs compliance with Source To Pay (S2P) and S2C policies.
Focus on fostering strategic and successful, long-standing partnerships with suppliers.
Plan & lead meetings with stakeholders.
Actively participate and contribute to team meetings and supplier QBRs.
Develop and facilitate business reviews with stakeholders to review supplier performance, future opportunities and/or challenges.
Guide stakeholders on preferred suppliers. Develop supplier management strategy to reduce and consolidate global suppliers.
Conduct routine planning sessions with stakeholders to ensure addressable spend in the assigned categories is under S2C management
What you'll need:
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
5+ years of recent and relevant sourcing and negotiation experience. Experience with Facilities is a plus.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency to tell the story of "what the data means".
Compelling collaboration skills that foster strong relationships with internal & external business partners.
Ability to be creative and innovative in finding solutions and negotiating strategies. Insatiable desire to learn more and improve every day.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and prioritize own workload
Strong ability to work independently and make decisions within the scope of role without management approval.
Unquestionable ethics and the desire to always do the right thing.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, G-suite and Sourcing/Procurement solutions for e-sourcing, spend analytics, contract lifecycle management (CLM), and Procure-to-Pay (P2P).
Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work with and lead geographically dispersed cross-functional teams. Multilingual skills are a plus.
