What is the position where you can add value?
Tri-Seal (A Tekni-Plex Company) in Blauvelt, NY is searching for a Production Operator for its 1st shift (8:00 am 4:30 pm).This position is responsible for operating production equipment to manufacture plastic lining using established standards and practices.
What will you do?
Cross train on all equipment within the department and fills in as needed. Lamination, Slitting and Punch Press.
Operate a production station as assigned by Production Manager.
Following standard methods and techniques, processes materials to ensure it meets SQF Food Safety and Quality Codes, product specifications and any special instructional customer specific requirements.
Properly and safety set up production equipment to processing specifications, to meet requirements of production order.
Maintains safe operation of production equipment at standard rates.
Pack finish product as per standards.
Monitors machine performance as per standard, recording hourly information on the HBH boards.
Observes Processing operation to detect malfunctions or non conformances. Escalates discovered issues per standard.
Inspects product for conformance to specifications, visually or using gauges or templates, and adjusts machine to correct errors.
Performs GO or NO GO and dimensional measurements using a micrometer, caliper, scale as required. Informs Supervisor/Manager and/or QA of non conformances.
Removes and segregated recycled and non recycled materials to trash or transfer bins.
Completes daily recording of production via LN or other defined means.
Maintains all equipment and advises the Manager of repairs when necessary.
Participates in shift exchange activities with those of other shifts to insure proper flow of information.
Promotes personal and product safety.
Actively participates in the continuous improvement process (CIP):
Participating in CIP teams to eliminate problems, streamline operations or other areas as defined by management.
Participating in CIP training and exercises designed to expand the potential for continuous improvement.
Performs other duties that may be assigned.
What skills do you bring to the role?
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Previous manufacturing experience required. Plastic extrusion experience a plus.
Solid understanding of machine function and process capability.
Basic math and computer skills. Must have general understanding of basic math concepts.
Ability to understand safety rules and regulations, work orders, operating procedures and training materials.
Daily reports to be completed timely
