In Finland Grid Solutions is engineering and manufacturing systems for electrical substations. Our GE Center of Excellence in Tampere delivers reactive power compensators such as Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM) and Static Var Compensators (SVC). These are used to control power system voltage and reactive power flow as well as to improve the power system stability and transmission system efficiency. STATCOMs and SVCs are also typically used to improve the integration of renewables to the power system making the future power system more sustainable. Our business is growing rapidly and 95% of the systems manufactured in Tampere are exported globally



**Job Description**



You will contribute to the design and specification of high voltage components of STATCOM and SVC reactive compensation systems.



**Roles and Responsibilities**



+ Execute the electrical design, analysis and evaluation of medium and high voltage (MV & HV) equipment of assigned delivery projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.MV & HV equipment covers typicallye.g. reactors, capacitors, resistors, circuit breakers,disconnectors and instrument transformers.

+ PreparetechnicalRFQs for MV & HV equipment

+ Validate equipment manufacturers quotations in close co-operation with sourcing team and project management

+ Prepare Electrical field and magnetic field calculations according to international standards.

+ Participate in factory acceptance tests and type tests of MV & HV equipment, either in the manufacturer premises or remotely.

+ Resistor equipment design & testing



**Desired characteristics**



+ M.Sc or B.Sc in Electrical engineering, preferably electrical power engineering (HV) or power electronics

+ Strong oral and written communication skills.

+ Willingness to travel

+ Knowledge in electromagnetic fields & mechanical engineering are considered as advantage

+ Knowledge in SAP and sourcing processes in general is considered as an advantage

+ English mandatory

+ Finnish preferred
