Summary
Proofread and edit documents for EmblemHealth, ConnectiCare, AdvantageCare Physicians, and other entities within the family of companies, as needed. Review print and digital projects to ensure clear and consistent messaging that is error-free, grammatically correct, and consistent with the enterprise's Copy Style Guidelines (based on the Associated Press Stylebook).
Responsibilities:
Proofreading/Style Governance:
Review communications and marketing materials for consistent style and voice, including Speak Human standards.
Correct spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.
Use a structured proofreading process to ensure error-free copy.
Monitor consistency of all material within copy style and other established guidelines, including branding.
Fact-check data, links, phone numbers, URLs, email addresses, and names within communications and marketing materials.
Review across formats (i.e., digital and print) to ensure materials and messaging are consistent.
Edit/revise copy as needed and appropriate.
Help maintain enterprise Speak Human and editorial copy style guides. Conduct educational sessions as needed to maintain department knowledge base and ensure updates are cascaded.
Research, clarify, and discuss copy with the writer, editor, designer, or content owner, addressing any questions they may have on the messaging.
Actively prioritize daily workload and communicate any known time constraints with relevant project managers.
Manage the workload for any contract or part-time freelancers, as needed, for additional proofreading projects.
Project Management and Editorial:
Produce status reports and keep track of schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
Perform regular quality checks to ensure materials are produced to specifications.
Adhere to departmental and organizational procedures.
Collaborate with internal customers to identify ways to improve the relevance and impact of communications.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
1 - 2+ years relevant professional work experience (R)
Experience in editing content, preferably in a healthcare setting. (R)
Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively, and to use proper grammar, punctuation, etc. (R)
Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Acrobat Pro (P)
Computer proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) (R)
