Position Summary
The AI team at Samsung Research UK is looking for exceptional graphics and machine learning experts to join the development team in Staines-upon-Thames. The team undertakes projects involving the application of cutting-edge academic research, proof-of-concepts and commercial products for Samsung devices and services. The prospective candidate will have the opportunity to be part of building the next generation of mobile devices. The candidate will contribute to the development of enhancements on Android to enable the best gaming experience on Samsungs flagship mobile phone devices.
We are looking for enthusiastic engineers with a background in graphics, together with a good understanding of machine learning. A solid working knowledge of OpenGL ES and/or Vulkan, and one or more machine learning environments is important. Experience with performance analysis and optimization on modern embedded platforms like Android/Tizen will be a plus.

The role is based at the Samsung R&D Institute in Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey, UK. We operate a hybrid working policy within which a standard working week is 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
Role and Responsibilities
As a Senior AI Graphics Engineer you will:
Identify & apply machine learning algorithms to improve gaming experience on Samsung devices
Develop extensions to the Android graphics framework to enable new user experiences.
Identify innovations to improve performance and reduce the power consumption for games.
Ownership of technical issues and resolving problems to ensure that quality and schedules are maintained.
Technical responsibility for one or more significant sections of the assigned project.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Skills
Bachelor or higher degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Natural Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline.
Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages.
Expertise in computer graphics with experience in design and development of software such as OpenGL, OpenGL ES, Vulkan or DirectX.
Machine learning development skills and experience with one or more training or deployment environments (PyTorch, Tensorflow etc.)
Performance analysis and optimisation of real-time graphics applications.
Excellent communication, team work and a results-oriented attitude.
Proficiency in problem solving and debugging.
Desirable Skills
Exposure to ML techniques for image generation e.g. enhancing images, increasing image resolution.
Familiarity with CPU and GPU hardware architectures.
Performance analysis and optimisation on embedded systems, preferably mobile devices.
Knowledge of Android frameworks and experience on Android application development.
